Bay City Rollers lead singer Les McKeown has passed away aged 65.

In their heyday, mid-1970's the lads from Scotland rivaled the Beatles.

Aw RIP Sheriff Dan McClelland & Midge. Their very special bond has carried over to their new world and after life.

They were partners in crime. Midge, the world's smallest police dog, and Sheriff Dan McClelland, worked together for years to keep Geauga County in Ohio safe. Midge, a rat terrier Chihuahua, was by McClelland's side for 16 years. He was a 44-year veteran of the force, and a decade of that time was spent working with Midge. But the story of Midge and McClelland took a sad turn recently when McClelland passed away after a bout with cancer. Midge, at home, passed away on the very same day.

RIP Ned Beatty, titanic character actor of ‘Network,’ dies at 83.

NEW YORK — Ned Beatty, the Oscar-nominated character actor who in half a century of American movies, including “Deliverance,” “Network” and “Superman,” was a booming, indelible presence in even the smallest parts, has died. He was 83.

Beatty’s manager, Deborah Miller, said Beatty died Sunday of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles surrounded by friends and loved ones.

After years in regional theater, Beatty was cast in 1972’s “Deliverance” as Bobby Trippe, the happy-go-lucky member of a male river-boating party terrorized by backwoods thugs in “Deliverance.” The scene in which Trippe is brutalized and forced to “squeal like a pig” became the most memorable in the movie and established Beatty as an actor whose name moviegoers may not have known but whose face they always recognized.

“For people like me, there’s a lot of ‘I know you! I know you! What have I seen you in?’” Beatty remarked without rancor in 1992.

Beatty received only one Oscar nomination, as supporting actor for his role as corporate executive Arthur Jensen in 1976′s “Network,” but he contributed to some of the most popular movies of his time and worked constantly, his credits including more than 150 movies and TV shows.

Beatty’s appearance in “Network,” scripted by Paddy Chayefsky an directed by Sidney Lumet, was brief but titanic. His three-minute monologue ranks among the greatest in movies. Jensen summons anchorman Howard Beale (Peter Finch) to a long, dimly lit boardroom for a come-to-Jesus about the elemental powers of media.

“You have meddled with the primal forces of nature, Mr. Beale, and I won’t have it!” Beatty shouts from across the boardroom before explaining that there is no America, no democracy. “There is only IBM and ITT and AT&T and DuPont, Dow, Union Carbide, and Exxon. Those are the nations of the world today.”

He was equally memorable as Otis, the idiot henchman of villainous Lex Luthor in the first two Christopher Reeve “Superman” movies and as the racist sheriff in “White Lightning.” Other films included “All The President’s Men,” “The Front Page,” “Nashville,” and “The Big Easy.” In a 1977 interview, he had explained why he preferred being a supporting actor.

Rest in peace Sanford Clark. From People magazine:

Sanford Clark, a rockabilly artist best known for his 1956 Top 10 hit "The Fool," has died. He was 85.

The singer/guitarist died from COVID-19 on Sunday at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, where he was receiving cancer treatment before he contracted the coronavirus, his publicist Johnny Vallis told the Associated Press.

Clark debuted in 1956 with writer/producer Lee Hazlewood's "The Fool," which peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Top 100. He later re-recorded the track in 1965 with Waylon Jennings on guitar. The song was featured onscreen in the Academy Award-winning 2013 film Dallas Buyers Club, and it's been covered by several artists, including Elvis Presley.

Comedian John 'Strop' Cornell dies aged 80 after long battle with Parkinson's disease -

Born in Kalgoorlie in 1941, Cornell quickly rose through the journalism ranks at the Daily News in Perth, becoming London editor at the age of 26.

He later turned his talents to broadcast journalism as the original producer of "A Current Affair".

While working on this program, he met Australian actor, Paul Hogan, and the two formed a popular comedy duo, Cornell playing the much-loved character, "Strop".

Cornell went on to co-write and produce The Paul Hogan Show, before the hugely successful "Crocodile Dundee" film franchise hit cinemas across the globe.

He also worked with Kerry Packer to establish World Series Cricket, which revolutionised the game.

In a statement issued by the family, Cornell was remembered as "one of Australia’s leading lights".

He died on Friday morning at his Byron Bay home, on the NSW North Coast.

"After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2001, John concentrated his efforts on philanthropy, supporting his community and worthy environmental, sporting and medical causes," the statement said.

"A classic Australian character, John Cornell made the lives he touched much richer, not only through donations, but also through his generosity of spirit, humour, humility and honour.

"A true egalitarian, John sought equity and equality, and fought for a fair go."

Cornell is survived by his wife of 46 years, Delvene Delaney, and three daughters, Melissa, Allira and Liana.

Colin Powell, former US secretary of state dies of Covid complications. He was 84. R.I.P.

Tributes are being paid to former US Secretary of State Colin Powell, who has died of Covid-19 complications aged 84.

The former top military officer died on Monday morning, his family said. He was fully vaccinated.

Powell became the first African-American secretary of state in 2001 under Republican President George W Bush.

He also sparked controversy for helping garner support for the Iraq War.

"We have lost a remarkable and loving husband, father, grandfather and a great American," the family said in a statement, thanking the staff at the Walter Reid Medical Center "for their caring treatment".

Powell had previously been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer which may have made him more susceptible to Covid symptoms, according to US media, as well as Parkinson's disease.

President Joe Biden, calling Powell a "dear friend", said he had embodied the "highest ideals of both warrior and diplomat".
