"Breaking News": NEW! NEW! NICK CAVE'S "TUPELO" ON YOUTUBE

Here you can also post any related video's of Elvis too, except impersonator video's where they imitate Elvis' voice of material he recorded.

"Breaking News": NEW! NEW! NICK CAVE'S "TUPELO" ON YOUTUBE

#991772

Post by rjm »

Here's the brand new video. Whew. Long song! But it had to be done

ENJOY!

..

Alright, so it's not a "Walter Cronkite Moment," but I just posted a bulletin on my YouTube channel. If you are subscribed, or you are lurking, you will see it. Here it is, with more info for FECCers.

One is up!!
rjm on YouTube wrote:Two new videos to come in the next couple weeks! Maybe sooner! I am storyboarding them now. Expect increasing elegance! A few more bells and whistles. One will have original photography taken this weekend.
The next one, I took original photographs for, today. That will be "And The Grass Won't Pay No MInd." I hope you will like my photography. It's kind of in the "pre-darkroom" state. I mean, I have to edit them properly. It was a wonderful day!! I had Sunrise downloaded to my Kindle, most of it, and some blues from RCA, and I was listening and reading at the pond, after I took my photos for the video, which is soon to come. Right here in this topic.

"Tupelo" being done,I have discovered more hidden secrets in Windows Movie Maker (and threw out 50 bucks on PowerDirector, which promiseland subtly and wisely hinted that I should NOT get, but I did - don't need any of those super-duper programs). Windows Movie Maker, which is on most everyone's computer, can do all the bells and whistles: transitions, the works. And some neat features I have already used. Wished I had a few cooler transitions, but that's ok. I'm very happy with "If I Can Dream." Wish I could do the other ones again, but they are very direct, and perhaps that's best. They convey the message bluntly.

Fellow YouTubers: I don't necessarily like using fancy stuff just for the sake of doing it. Stuff spinning around, breaking into pieces . . . only if it's necessary. Only. So, when I do "Tupelo," I hope you will get as excited by the video as the song is exciting. One of the most exciting musical productions you have heard! Have you heard it? Then go to ITunes, Amazon, or any music download-retailer and get "the single." You can also get the album it's on; it's a great album. (Lord, I hope I didn't misplace it when I cleaned up my office!)

The other video, which is to come, will be taken from original photographs, and perhaps some video, that I took today. Might include a little Elvis-happy-in-the-sixties home movie footage, too. Dunno. Whatever makes it work well.

I don't want to crank 'em out. I know I'd probably get more subscribers that way, but no. Each one will be special.

So, get ready for the next "bulletin"!! As soon as the first one is posted. I will embed the video in this post when it's done.

So, if you're interested, bookmark a link to this post, because that's where it will appear. And on the channel, but I mean, for us here.

And now, folks out there in TubeLand, a word from our sponsor . . .

Some raw video footage that I shot yesterday that will be edited into the upcoming "And The Grass Won't Pay No Mind" video.

Just for you! (This video is "unlisted." Only viewable from who I give the link to. Which means YOU! (I have a couple friends elsewhere, but that's all. It is not "public," and not searchable. It's just for my friends.)

Hi, rj, thanks for posting: fascinating video, well done.

'Tupelo': monster song - it would make for a stunning prologue to any Presley movie biography.

Thanks, George. I worked very hard on it. You always want to go back and change this or that, but you have to just sometimes trust those serendipitous moments. Just had to do it.

How else to describe it? The first time I heard it, I had the speakers turned up, but normally so, and I was literally "blown away" or "thunderstruck"!!! Wow. (Phil Spector once claimed that one of his songs sounded like "God hit the world, and the world hit back." Well, God did hit the world in the 1930s, in Tupelo. Cave hit back.)

That insistent pounding . . . of foreboding, of the human hearts that would soon stop beating, of the new heart that started beating, of Jesse Garon's stilled heart . . . of the storm, of the wreckage. All the wreckage. I now "see" what Gladys is staring off at in that great photograph. I mean, here, it finally makes total sense. She sees the future in the past.

I know! This is the time-period which they should cover in a feature film. Just 'till they moved to Memphis. The film can end when they leave. Or when they arrive at their new "apartment" at that boarding house on Washington St. in Memphis (yes, "Washington St.": just like in Change of Habit . . . unreal, but real).

There are enough oral histories and there's enough hard info to transform just about everything into an engrossing psychological/historical feature film. With actors: good ones. You'd need the rights to maybe three books. Guralnick, Dundy, and perhaps another good one. With original interviews conducted to make the film, and use of taped material (Dundy has an archive of interviews and other materials; she passed on a few years ago, but the interviews are available.) Guralnick must have quite a storehouse. Michael Rose has plenty, for his "Return To Tupelo" documentary. And they can contact Charles "WSIR" Johnson, who did an earlier film called "Blue Suede Shoes In The Hood," a documentary about Shakerag (and Elvis) with original music.

I would pay EXTRA to see that movie. I would buy that whole new HD-Blu-Ray home theater set-up to see that movie!!!!!!!! Come on, great directors!

Oh, BTW. The film would have a single word for the title: "Tupelo."
