Here you can also post any related video's of Elvis too, except impersonator video's where they imitate Elvis' voice of material he recorded.

Powerful Testimonies by JD and Donnie Sumner

Mon Feb 11, 2008 3:21 am

Although not strictly "Elvis" topics, JD and Elvis obviously had a deep and mutual respect of one another, so I thought I'd post the videos here:

Just thought I'd post these so people can see the caliber of human beings Elvis had around him. The honesty of both men is inspiring. Of course, JD passed away in 1998.

P.S. Donnie is JD's nephew and is the one singing "The Lighthouse" at the piano in "Elvis On Tour": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmt0LMXhULo

Awesome!

Given Elvis' love of gospel music, and his admiration for most of the people present, I've often wondered if Elvis would have participated in any of the Gaither videos. It probably would have been like going back to the gospel sings of his youth for him.

I may be wrong but I'm sure Gaither would've had Elvis on his videos.

Thanks for posting Cryogenic. It`s quite impressing that those two(To us well known)grown up men, pull out their feelings in public like that....I`ve noticed, that Americans often does that, but in my part of the world it`s not commen at all...you almost never see it among grown up people, at least not in public.

Re: The caliber of JD -

As a little bit of objective perspective, I add the following .....

Behind the pious facade, JD was a(n) (in)famous boozer & skirt-chaser, as well.

J.D. may have been a boozer and womanizer at one point but he stopped those things before he passed away.

Always worth a lot.

Thanks for that info.

OTOH: I suppose Elvis never pretended to be "pious", but let's not forget that he was an addict of different substances and quite the skirt-chaser himself.

JD's emotion looks pretty authentic. Had he mellowed by then?

Each and every single one of us, is as human as the next person (including JD .... & EP).

Heroes are fallible & chosen for different, sometimes complex, reasons; JD was a "hero" in EP's eyes, ...... and EP was a "hero" in JD's eyes. That's what - IMO - ultimately matters.

Elvis wasn't in LV at labour day, 1976, was he?

No, I don't believe he was...that's why (although, I'm not discrediting Donnie's story) I believe that Donnie has his dates mixed up.
