Neat find. Too bad the video does not offer the complete 1963 demo.

Here's the label image and text from the eBay page:

01.jpg

Artist: Ann Margret
Title: "Appreciation".
Format: One sided 10" 45 rpm acetate.
Label: Dick Charles Recording Service. Ann Margret's name misspelled on label.
Condition acetate: VG+.
Jacket: vintage storage sleeve. With vintage sheet music that came with disc.

Different Version than on the movie "Viva Las Vegas". Demo? Most likely.

If you take a closer look and listen, the seller has got something wrong. The voice on the record does not sound like Ann-Margret.

Could this be so?

First, notice only Bernie Wayne's name is on the demo label. In reality, "Appreciation" was written with Marvin J. Moore and published by BMI.

APPRECIATION
BMI Work # 51852
SONGWRITER/COMPOSER
MOORE MARVIN J
WAYNE BERNIE

http://repertoire.bmi.com/DetailView.aspx?detail=titleid&keyid=51852

(Their biggest hit together was Joe Dowell's top 25 single "Little Red Rented Rowboat" in 1962.)

So the female singer must be someone hired to do the demo, with the actress' name added to the label for some reason, maybe to make clear it was not meant for Elvis.

Let's hope the master take appears on an official Elvis release someday. Ann did a great job both on record and on screen.

Ann margret singing voice is a bore and even more so really tend to make the listeners ear bleed.
But you just think different because of her looks.
Like others do.
Really, her singing is awful.
But i bet you find a way to put down my opinion.

In 1964 I wouldn’t kick her out of my bed for singing, she could sing all she’d want when she wasn’t occupied.

I wouldn't listen to her solo numbers on an FTD, but there is a sexy quality to You're The Boss she provides. Of course, Elvis is marvelous on it.

Do you skip the Nancy SInatra solo number on "Speedway" too?

I prefer the Ann Margret numbers. Also, I rarely listen to Speedway.

I think you're on to something, matilda.

Just listen to how strange her voice sounds on this recording!!

too bad I've read this topic too late.

That Joy Byers acetate is great. For just over 100 US would be a nice buy.

There's also an acetate for Queenie Wahine's papaya.

Interesting stuff.

This sounds like an earlier version of ''Smorgasbord'':

I wouldn't go that far...but at least the singing in the Elvis movie is something that I don't like.

I think Ann has a good singing voice. While I don't think Appreciation showcased it as well as it could've, she sounds much better on My Rival.

And her voice in Bye Bye Birdie is quite enjoyable.

This is all just my opinion, of course.

There is a bit of that awful "Spinout" track in this demo of "All's Well That Ends Well."

In this case, they did not copyright the number:

https://www.ascap.com/repertory#ace/writer/2720634/BENNETT%20ROY%20C

But, boy, what an embarrassment to hear. Sid Tepper and Roy C. Bennett wrote some of the worst songs Elvis ever recorded. Perhaps the worst thing is hearing how the singer on the demo sings in a terribly affected "Elvis" voice. Imagine our supremely talented star listening to stuff like this while considering material for his next project. And some wonder how the sixties slide happened.

From the oddly-titled eBay page:

Artist: Elvis Presley? Not positive. Sounds like him! Give a listen to this unreleased demo of a song by famed Elvis songwriting team Tepper-Bennett. You be the judge! And why wasn't this great song released?? Perhaps under a different title?

Title: "All's Well That Ends Well" .

Format: One sided 7" 45 rpm metal acetate.

Label: Dick Charles Recording Service.

Yes, I was thinking about that too. Sometimes working on his 60's films/soundtracks must have been a sheer nightmare. But when you comparing that demo to Elvis' master of "Smorgasbord", I really have to admire his ability to inject some life into stuff like this.

Please don't tell me how I think. There is nothing wrong with having an opinion, but the reason we all slate you is because you portray your opinions as fact.

The "Elvis" vocalist is pretty embarrassing. Man, how could anyone listen to that, it's like a low-rent, stand-up comic's parody of him.
