Re: New MRS Vinyl
Nice! one gripe, both logo's doesn't fit the time period, it was better off with a 1950's styling ...

Let's be honest why can't official stuff look like this?

Re: New MRS Vinyl
They look nice but what's the point of these vinyl releases? They have no access to the original master tapes so the source is not analog. They just lift the audio from official Sony releases, don't they?

I was mainly remarking on the presentation NOT the content! Stop shooting the messengers!

Re: New MRS Vinyl
It's just for vinyl collectors, they look nice on the shelf - the presentation is great, but you are right, the content is lifted from a digital source ...Marko on Thu Oct 19, 2017 7:55 am wrote:They look nice but what's the point of these vinyl releases? Re: New MRS Vinyl
Memphis Recording Service has once again come up with something which most Elvis Collectors don't mind picking up for their personal Elvis Collections'.
The artwork on these vinyl releases look great !
Packaging like this, is one of the Keys' in continual Positive Promotion of Elvis Presley''s Legacy.
(Nothing wrong with that in my opinion)
Where the audio comes from, most if not all who buy will not care. Just as long as the quality is up to par and is as good as it can be for what is being released.
This has alway''s been the case with MRS releases' anyway.
Personally I look at it this way. Here we have a company that has continued to come up with Elvis projects over the years' that most Elvis Hardcores like and I'm one of them.
https://www.memphisrecordingservice.com
Plus as a added Bonus, Elvis releases' like this, help rope in "New Elvis Fan's" by default.
(Again, nothing wrong with that in my opinion, either)

Re: New MRS Vinyl
Sorry Doc and Jim Dandy but I don't get it. Elvis has been an artist to be collected for so long that I dont think Sony CDs are important anymore. In early days RCA was important but Elvis is bigger than that today.Jim Dandy on Sat Oct 21, 2017 6:05 pm wrote:Ain’t that the truth.drjohncarpenter wrote:Let's be honest, without official stuff these releases would not exist.dennyelvis on Wed Oct 18, 2017 7:38 am wrote:Let's be honest why can't official stuff look like this?

If that is the case then SONY / FTD are idiots and should have been bunging out quality product like this for the general public.drjohncarpenter on Thu Oct 19, 2017 10:44 am wrote:Let's be honest, without official stuff these releases would not exist.dennyelvis on Wed Oct 18, 2017 7:38 am wrote:Let's be honest why can't official stuff look like this?
So many times they missed the boat and MRS nicely filled the gap.
For instance The MRS recent 'Elvis Studio Sessions '56' The Complete Recordings' featured over 59 photos of Elvis singing in the studio.
It was a vital comprehensive collection of truly important photos capturing Elvis recording at his peak which we have not seen elsewhere.
In comparison ‘Young Man With The Big Beat’ only included 17 similar studio photos, while Ernst Jorgensen’s ‘A Life In Music’ included 21.
YMWTBB should have included more.
It was great product at great value.

Re: New MRS Vinyl
Would we have the same discussion if this was a release from any other label? I don't see any of this type of discussion when good bootlegs are released I'm pretty sure Ernst / Sony don't like that either.
What about the great books that were published the last few years, they contained a lot of content and photo's sourced from the internet. I'm pretty sure not all the copyright holders were not consulted ...
Do we really care where the available material is comming from? I'm glad it is available in different (good looking) formats for me to choose from. And since pretty much everything Elvis has been released the past 60 years we are pretty much recycling the same material anyway.

Some have an agenda against the MRS label.K.C. on Mon Oct 23, 2017 10:49 am wrote:Would we have the same discussion if this was a release from any other label? I don't see any of this type of discussion when good bootlegs are released I'm pretty sure Ernst / Sony don't like that either.
The same few who have backed bootleg releases since the LP releases of the 1970's as has been proven by their posts of said material.
One makes their own opinion whether they like the product or not regardless of what another thinks.

Some highly praise bootleg releases, yet pan perfectly legitimate so-called 'grey' market records.
For whatever reason the MRS label seems to attract more critisism that most!

Re: New MRS Vinyl
Are you seriously trying to equate appreciation of bootleg LPs released 35+ years ago with the releases being discussed on this topic? You're being silly. The point made above is unassailable, a fact that has nothing to do with an "agenda."Elfan on Mon Oct 23, 2017 3:35 am wrote:Yes, I've noticed thatjetblack on Mon Oct 23, 2017 11:09 am wrote:Some have an agenda against the MRS label.

Although some may argue that certain people here have an agenda to dismiss stating such facts.
