I have the "The Last Movies" CD now. Great quality and booklet. But I wish they had
used the songs on FTD releases of "Let's Be Friends" and "Almost In Love". That fit
better in the Classic series.

Hi there!! .
Another "Mystery" solved! . Thanks Keith . Bye for now .Keith on October 27th, 2017, 1:33 pm wrote:I did that too Jimmy, by removing the right channel and centring the audio for the full medley to mono - yes it does sound like Elvis to me and it would be strange if it wasn't, as Elvis is only heard clearly in the left channel in the songs he sings on.

Nice spot, and I agree. "Far Above Cayuga's Waters" is Cornell University's alma mater, although I doubt Elvis knew that.JimmyCool on Thu Oct 26, 2017 2:12 pm wrote:On "Far Above Cayuga's Waters," the guy on the left channel sounds like Elvis to me:

His participation here is not unlike when he joined the Jordanaires in backing up the Jubilee Four's George McFadden on the recording of "The Climb" for MGM's "Viva Las Vegas." Of course, the 1963 recording is far better in all respects, being a complete song of very high quality. It was written by Leiber and Stoller, after all. Anyway, his effort meant he was having a good time, and engaged in the recording process, a rarity as the 1960s soundtracks rolled on. FTD notes the track is unreleased. Could this mean even more Elvis, like on "Boola Boola"?
Excitement is ours to discover!

Re: 3 New FTD Releases - October FTD's (Updated 10-4-2017)
Maybe someone can boost me out of my indecision regarding the Tahoe shows. I've been undecided about this release so over the weekend I listened to Spanish Eyes by Request (GRM) & Last Tango in Tahoe (FB) and both shows sound to me like Elvis is only giving run-of-the-mill, all-in-a-days-work performances. The two imports didn't help my decision at all and I haven't read anyone raving over the new FTD. Are his performances any different? Any unbiased critiques would be great. Thanks. Sound wise both imports are ok/good but how does the new FTD rate - better?

More of the same on the new FTDs. Sound is very good with orchestra prominent ...no real surprises but nice to hear the Jackson Five intro... CD-1/ Plus I'll Remember You & Heartbreak Hotel good versions CD-2 ...Darrell on Mon Oct 30, 2017 2:45 pm wrote:Maybe someone can boost me out of my indecision regarding the Tahoe shows. Re: 3 New FTD Releases - October FTD's (Updated 10-4-2017)
Just pulled these out of my mailbox this evening. There's something still so enjoyable getting a 'new' Elvis CD (s) in the mail. Unwrapping these things, enjoying and studying the graphics, reading the liner notes, etc. Strange, but they still hold me in their sway the same as they did when I unwrapped my first purchased Elvis album back in 1972 - "Burning Love and Hits from His Movies." Part of me feels like a kid again this evening as "Change of Habit" is busting forth from my speakers and I'm reading every word of the latest FTD booklet.
Thanks for another one fine job, Ernst.

Was anyone disappointed with the mastering on the track Change of Habit? I thought that the Double Features one sounded better.

The sound on the opening track is very 'Muddy' and has been released previously in much better sound (?)LesterB on Tue Oct 31, 2017 3:38 pm wrote:Was anyone disappointed with the mastering on the track Change of Habit? I thought that the Double Features one sounded better.

Re: 3 New FTD Releases - October FTD's (Updated 10-4-2017)
I've not had the time to check it against the "Double Features" release, but when listening last night, I was struck by the channel separation on the opening of the song. It seemed more defined or something. I'll have to compare the two this evening.
Silly, aren't we?
I'm sure there are many who would think so. This includes my wife - who mockingly asked what the package was that I received. When I said it was a couple of new Elvis CDs, she asked something like: "Didn't he die like fifty years ago?"

LOL, I had a similar experience a few weeks ago when I came back from the thrift shop with a few Elvis CDs. My wife's reaction: "Don't you have them all already?"ORION on Tue Oct 31, 2017 12:51 pm wrote:Silly, aren't we?

That train already left the station years ago. That was her 'go-to' phrase each time that I received an AR or soundboard and she'd see "Hound Dog" or "Love Me Tender or "See See Rider." Now, I simply say it's a 'new' concert that I haven't heard - which results in her asking about how long the poor man has been dead so there's no way it can be new. Fortunately, I can then escape to my music room in the basement and became an EP lovin' kid all over again.
Funny, some just don't know what they're missing.
