50 Years Ago: IT WON'T BE LONG!

#1586317

Post by HoneyTalkNelson »

Five decades ago, the "Daddy of Modern Rock" showed them how it was done.

Elvis was in the midst of his legendary Comeback and took Mad, Mod Europe by song!

As a promise to his legion of fans around the globe, he ended the film with a cryptic warning: "It Won't Be Long."

Tragically, the newly written song (not the previous bubblegum tune by the Fab Four) was cut from the film at the 11th hour.

However, when the driving rocker appeared as a very Special Bonus Song on the now legendary soundtrack album, the deep and true Elvis fan knew exactly what he meant.

"Anything worth having - is worth the waiting for."

Thanks for the articles and pictures, but the movie was close to the bottom of the barrel, an absolute nonsense (script, songs and distribution)

I will stick to the opening song on The Beatles' second album.

Anybody in 1963 would have killed to have an album track like that.

Can anyone tell me why I get the message....."you do not have the required permission to view this attachment"
It's not on all posts, just some...but it's very frustrating.

I like most of the songs that made the film, the FTD is one that I play about once a year but as a stand alone movie it's a steaming pile of crap.

Thanks for sharing tho.

I happen to LOVE this song.

I love the fuzzy sound effects and Elvis is just so laid back* (*a similar approach, to my ears, can be heard on 'Never Say Yes'). It's a very catchy song, just a lovely listen !

I enjoy most of the songs from this movie. You Gotta Stop is a very underrated Presley track IMO. Always liked that one in particular.

Always cool to see The King play a Gibson SG, single-neck Angus style or double-neck Jimmy Page style...

Well, It Won't Be Long was one of the better songs from the soundtrack, but not in the film. Thinking of it, that happened on more than one occasion. Animal Instinct and Wisdom Of The Ages from HS are to me two of the better songs on the album. Sand Castles, Plantation Rock, Steppin' Out Of Line, How Can You Loose What You Never Had, Let's Be Friends are the ones springing to mind. Please add more! Not one word about the Movie 8) I like posts like these! Kicks me into mood of listening to the song in question, outtakes and all! Fun post! Keep 'em coming! :)

Hi there!! :D :D :D.

This rejected song from the movie is probably my favourite song in the soundtrack plus "Could I Fall In Love", "City By Night" & "There´s So Much World To See" 8). Love the guitar playing by the great Hilmer J 'Tiny' Timbrell. The outtakes sound so much better compared to all the masters....... :smt020. Bye for now :smt006.
