You should read the topic header again :)
But since you are mentioning this cd box it is indeed a great one and I played it just a few days ago
I still like the sound quality despite beeing over 20 years old release.
As for LP editions I must admit I havent played any vinyls in many weeks.

Awesome live album and that's a very nice setup you have there.

Like Johnny I've been listening to the new FTD Rostabout.
Very nice although Elvis looks like a wax work on the cover.

That's the same picture that adorns the original Roustabout cover just reframed (correctly?) and given it's original background isn't it...

Great, mine is under the xmas tree, along with another FTD vinyl (I don’t know which) and The Friday Music Edition of the ‘68 Special.
Only a few days to wait now.

It is yes but it's bigger and has a different tint on it.I assume the original was touched up.

Friday Music pressing of "Elvis: 1968 T.V. Special".
This is a fantastic issue, a mixture of Mono and Stereo tracks. Great sound, fantastic vinyl pressing.

why does his face looks like a cut-out even though they used the original shot with the original background on this new ftd lp?

Roustabout FTD.
Perhaps it us just me, but the volume on this one seems quite low compared to my other vinyls.
Anyone else notice this?

I've often thought that particular image appears that way, I put it down to how the studio lights catch his face? Unless, there was some vintage photo-trickery a-la 'Frankie & Johnny' cover art going on?

To me it looks like they have used a large apeture setting, perhaps f2 or even lower to create a shallow depth of field. This differentiates the background from the subject, for that ‘cut out’ look, known as ‘bokeh’ a Japanese word for the effect. See how EP’s face is in focus but the shoulder line of his shirt is out of focus. Most of the shirt is out of focus, except a small area to the bottom right.
The lighting is typical of studio portraites (sometimes called ‘Van Gough’ lighting), with the left side of the face casting a slight shadow on the right side.
For the picture on the back of the album, a different apeture is used, meaning the jacket and shirt are in focus as well as the main subject.
In each case the distance of the subject from the background also helps to create the differential focus.

The photographer may have been aware that the background was going to be replaced with something appropriate to the movie and this may have influenced the way the photo was shot.
Replacing the plain background with something with more pattern to it, or in this case quite a lot going on, can lessen the ‘bokeh’ effect because it is not the original background the focus can be independantly manipulated.
In the original, the cutting out process to place the photo on the new background has created a false ‘sharpness’ to the edges of his shirt.
The colour tint on the original is quite warm as well, his face is a different shade.
