I love the songs Paradise Hawaiian Style and Drums of the Island. And that scene with the dogs is really cute.

Not the best movie, though.

My wife and I are planning a visit to Hawaii for our tenth anniversary. I've never been before.

I have a confession to make...

For the last few days I've been listening to the alternate A Dog's Life - song Colonel Snow has posted. Overall, it's quite similar to the original album cut: melody is "fake-rock" and lyrics are not sophisticated. Perhaps because this alternate version is new to me, it seems a little bit better than the old one.

It got me thinking: what was the deciding factor to Elvis that made him choose Weisman song. Was it really better in his ears? Or perhaps he liked better previous Weisman songs? What's your opinion?

Either way, there wasn't almost no quality to this material. Elvis might have chosen the other song and it still would be embarassment for him to perform it. But which version do you prefer: original or posted here?

I didn'y like the sudden cut on the audio posted by Colonel, so I did some editing to it, so that it could end more smoothly. Here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ae9di5a82uj6n5p/A%20Dog%27s%20Life%20%28No.%202%29%20%5BRepaired%20Demo%5D.wav?dl=0

In New York, PARADISE was the A-feature when it opened citywide with a reissue of SHANE.

Thanks for the cool picture "jetblack"! 8). Bye for now :smt006.

P.S: Beware that it is a fake cover. This seller (sfcrobertp) has been selling homemade sleeves with real record on eBay for some years now.... :smt018.

Feedback from eBay buyers:
picture sleeve was not authentic-made using a computer, record was good
BUYER BEWARE - COUNTERFEIT ITEMS MISREPRESENTED AS REAL: POOR LASER COPIED ART

Thanks for that Mike.

I thought there maybe something off about it as I had never seen it listed anywhere before.

Cheers all for some great info.

Thank you! Do you happen to have some audio to go with it?
It's interesting to see that original title for Queenie Wahine's was Princess Papoolas Papaya - which introduces clever attempt at alliteration:

Princess Papoolas Papayas, pineapple, pumpkin (or) poy
Please pick (her) papaya put Princess Papoola in perfect perpetual joy
'Though some people's palates prefer pickled salads
For pudding pick popcorn peach pie etc.

It's sad that's the only interesting thing about that rubbish song

Unfortunately I don't have audio from this demo- version.
About rubbish- songs:
The songs in Elvis' movies were written for a certain scene. It happened that two or three songwriters wrote a song with the same title for a scene. The producer - director and / or Elvis decided what's recorded. Hal Wallis wanted a lot of songs in a movie because the fans liked it. In that way no career as serious actor in Hollywood for Elvis. And Colonel Parker agreed becuse the money flowed in.

Regardless of certain purpose for this song, it's still Elvis at the bottom
