On it’s turn CHFIL was based on the tune of “Plaisir d’amour”.
One of the oldest versions was recorded on 21 may 1902 by Emilio de Gogorza aka Monsieur Fernand (Victor 1405 / Canada: Berliner 801).

i read this, too. if it was based on it, then very loosely.
comparing both melodies, they never sounded very similar to my ears.
