More Movie Songs In Concert?
Do you think he could or should have used more songs from his films? Always thought CUYOB would have fitted in gr8 in 69, are there any u think would have gone down well on stage?

Re: More Movie Songs In Concert?
It would have been nice to have a segment within his concert dedicated to the movie years, after all they made him a lot of money, and sold a ton of record as we are always reminded of here. He could have done about 3 quality songs dedicated to the movies(no Do The Clam however). Then again, with so many segments to his career, he could have done this with the Sun period, the 50's , the Memphis sessions, and his latest 70's work. Anything would have been better than those MOR cover songs he started to do too much of.

Wow...that's a great idea, wish he'd thought of it!r&b wrote:It would have been nice to have a segment within his concert dedicated to the movie years, after all they made him a lot of money, and sold a ton of record as we are always reminded of here. Re: More Movie Songs In Concert?
There was certainly a mine to be tapped in terms of quality movie songs, but then the movies became such a millstone, a painful obligation, that I'm not surprised he perhaps didn't want to be reminded.
I'd have loved to hear a live version of Edge Of Reality, Doin The Best I Can King Creole and Pocket Full Of Rainbows to name a few.

The section would include the nice ditties "All That I Am" and others in that vein with James Burton, Jerry Scheff, and whoever was the piano player at the time.

Re: More Movie Songs In Concert?
As part of his regular concert set list these songs would have been good to do on stage.
Party
Gotta lot of livin to do
loving you
Baby (you're so sqaure)
Treat me nice
Young & Beautiful
King Creole
Trouble
As long as I have you
Hard headed woman
Shoppin around
pocketful of rainbows
Follow that dream
Bossa Nova Baby
Viva Las Vegas
C'mon everybody
Clean up your own backyard
let us pray

Re: More Movie Songs In Concert?
I would have liked him to do more of his movie songs live in the 70s - there were some great ones, not just in the 50s but 60s too. Every 60s soundtrack LP or EP had at least 1/2 hidden gems, Viva Las Vegas had some catchy tunes like C'mon Everybody, If You Think I Don't Need You, plus others King Of The Whole Wide World, Angel, This Is My Heaven, All I Needed Was The Rain and so many others. Crawfish is certainly one I'd have like to have heard.

Although not strictly a movie song I always thought he would have done Guitar Man in 69/70?

Re: More Movie Songs In Concert?
I was listening to Bossa Nova Baby yesterday and thought that would have been a great track for him to do in concert.
