Like so many before me I can only say that I was shocked and saddened by the news of Claude's passing. I was certainly aware of his continuing back problems, but not of his cancer. To know he was always so pleasant in our messages and so diligent in our business dealings and all the while suffering only further heightens my respect and admiration for the man that I've corresponded with hundreds of times but, alas, never met over nearly two decades. As other posters have noted, Claude allowed the younger version of me to finally match my passion for Elvis with actual product, never failing to notify me of upcoming releases of all kinds and always waiting patiently for me to settle my account. It's eerie and I guess fitting that recently we were "even" in accounts, one of the few times this had occurred in all the years of our dealings. I will look at my collection sadly for a bit, wondering how I'll be able to go on collecting without Claude's monthly messages of opportunity. But soon I will enjoy it all the more knowing that I shared Elvis with such a good man as Claude. My sincere condolences to his family and to all of you that were his friends in person.

Here I thought I was kind of special with Claude, being able to get a disc from him this week and pay him for it next week. He knew I was good for it and I always was. Apparently, he extended credit to a bunch of us. He really was what a lot of Elvis people are, a genuinely nice person.

I am very sad because I knew Claude since 1998, and I hoped he would come to see me in France. We talked several times in recent years, despite its big health problems. He also told me about Elvis concerts he had seen before, it was very interesting.

I regularly ask him how he and my last email was two weeks I did not have an answer, but I knew I answered as it was more or less well.

RIP Claude, and my condolences to his family.

christophe from France

I wore two things today in honour of Claude, the tie and my DEA cufflinks, which you cannot see. Pictured with me is another friend of Claude's, Vlado.

Thank very much Paul. You've allowed all of us to be "present" thought separated by many miles. I've specifically been praying for Claude's family and hope that his memory will bring them joy and comfort as they continue life's journey.

Thanks for the pictures, Paul. It was indeed a very nice setup. I thought the Elvis picture they selected was quite appropriate. I was hoping to be able to meet you in person and shake your hand but it seems we unfortunately weren't there at the same time. I didn't stay around too long since the only person I really knew was the deceased. Presented my sympathies to Claude's mother (I was glad that she still remembered me and took the time to speak to me about Claude's final months among us). I said my last goodbyes to Claude, signed the guest book, and was on my way (but with a heavy heart). Salut Claude!

Elvis fan. From Sun to Sundial.

Too bad I missed you. I was there at 10:30 until it was all finished around 2.

It was good to chat with many old friends and Claude's family.

The service and the priests eulogy after the wake was very moving and emotional. Many of us cried during the selection of songs. All done with just a piano and a priest who had a beautiful baritone. He sang two of the songs. The other 4 were instrumentals. Only Elvis songs.

Amazing Grace
Love Me Tender
I Believe - Sung by priest
Danny Boy
My Way - Sung by priest
American Trilogy

Take care everyone, and for Claude, Adios Mother!

It's a shame Claude didn't live to see the return of his beloved Nordiques.
So close this year, but no NHL For Quebec City.
