It was already mentioned . . . I too wish that "All I Needed Was The Rain" was longer.

I have one that most of you probably haven't though about; 'Nothingville' (from the 68 special). Imagine a full length version of that song. I also like 'All I needed was the rain' which is way too short. 'Night life' is another one that is short (even with that guitar solo).

Excellent choice! I like 'Rain' also. Cool little song which could have benefited from a bluesy harmonica solo to bridge it.

Double trouble is also a nice song that is way too short (1:37 I believe).

That's a good idea.

"There's so much world to see" should be longer.

It should be said many believe that longer is not always better.

Not Elvis' version, but this guy is a real talent and delivers a first class rendition of that track. He does lots of Elvis covers minus the uh-huh-huhs, sunglasses, lamb-chops, etc. A pretty tasty guitar player too. Check it out...

"Steadfast Loyal And True" should have had a guitar solo right after the first verse to make it a bit more entertaining and joyous.

Santa Lucia .

Wasn't there a rumour saying that there was a longer version in the archives of RCA containing additional accordion ?

Best always,

It does sound good. Maybe a new extended version, with a good guitar break 'a la Jerry Reed', could be done also on a future Remix album?

Always liked Party more than Hot Dog, but Hot Dog is indeed a song that would have benefited greatly from a Scotty Moore solo. Interesting how 2 very short rockers were featured on the same album back to back.

I'm sure you know there is a longer version. The unedited master is longer than the release version (almost 30 seconds) and includes an additional verse, though it's unreleased so far: https://www.keithflynn.com/recording-sessions/660628.html

At least we have the alternate master on "Silver Screen Stereo" which is unedited.

According to that page, the only difference between the "record version" on the FTD the "record version - transfer" is that the count-in is longer on the transfer, and the source is MONO. Otherwise, they are apparently the same. Not a very good song in any case.

That's true, however the version released in 1967 on the album is not the "record version" (that was unreleased until we got it from FTD about 30 years later). The album version was in fact the edited "movie version" (#2004 - omitting the 'trains' verse) which runs 1:57. The alternate master "record version" (#2003) has the 'trains' verse in and runs 2:21 (the count-in was not included on "Silver Screen Stereo").

I think it's one of the better songs from the film. BTW, I think the melody is a bit reminiscent of this song:

That was nice. Decent singer, and very good guitar player. How I wish Elvis would have done stuff like this in concert , a sort of acoustic segment, but he obviously didnt play as well as this guy. Still, like Jim Croce who had a very good player with him, he could have sat with a very good player, and the both of them could have run thru some songs like this from his career. Not glam enough for some folks that like all the glitter, goldbelts and stuff, but musically much more pleasant.

Yes, an excellent song, especially in its longer form.

It reminds me a little of New Orleans from KIng Creole.
