I guess that's the only other selling point other than the special edition be a bluray.Ty@TheFilmFrontier wrote:I believe it, because the upgraded outtakes are slated for WB's Blu-ray release, not the DVDs on the Sony set.Justin wrote:Unbelievable.JohanD wrote:Looked at a few, they look the same to me as we had before on the double dvd set.Rich_TCB wrote:For goodness sakes, SOMEONE put the DVD in the player, and let us know how the OUTTAKES look.
Outtakes are in better quality.

Athough there is no mentioning on the packaging or in the booklet, there are some outtakes as bonus on the second DVD.
DVD 1: TTWII Special edition
Bonus:
1-Cast and crew(text)
2-Behind the scenes(text-not on original 2007 vesion) *
3-Elvis and his films(text-not on original 2007 version) *
4-Patch it up: te recreation of TWIII
5-Original 1970 trailer
*: Although "new" on dvd, there is no Elvis involment.
Dvd 2
Original 1970 theatrical version
Bonus outtakes:
Rehearsal Culver city
1-You don't have to say you love me
2-Elvis eating
3-Baby let's play house
4-Don't
Rehearsal International hotel room
5-Farther along
Stage rehearsal
6-Oh happy day
Live outtakes
7-I just can't help believing
8-Walk a mile in my shoes
9-I've lost you
10-Sweet Caroline
11-Little sister(Get back edited out)
12-Stranger in the crowd
13 After show party.
Nothing really "new" on the dvd's what we didn't had before.
Visual and sound on all is the same as on the 2007 release, just a different label.
But nice enough to stand next to the audioshows and to have a pretty complete TTWII package.

It seems silly to me to have these DVD's on the set. The extras are upgraded on the Blu-ray set but not the Dvd's?!?!

I agree. But I assume Warner would have agreed to your idea to include the Blu-Ray versions since it would undercut warner sales.L Ray wrote:JohanD wrote:Matthew wrote:I do not see any outtakes listed on the packaging of this new 10 disc box-set.Rich_TCB wrote:For goodness sakes, SOMEONE put the DVD in the player, and let us know how the OUTTAKES look.

Re: That's The Way It Is 8 CD (SONY) Box Set : CONFIRMED
Why include these DVDs at all, when the remastered content is about to be released on BluRay?
They seem to be merely space-fillers with no use at all, especially since the remastered outtakes do not appear on them.
Useless.
One might as well use them as coasters and fill those slots with the new editions in a couple of weeks time!

Looking forward to the Blu-ray set and I hope that the original version was remastered even though it isn't Blu-ray. Question: Who did the audio on the CD's? I must have missed that info. somewhere along the way.

It's a fair bet the producers are assuming many consumers in 2014:Matthew wrote:Why include these DVDs at all, when the remastered content is about to be released on BluRay?

- did not buy the 2001 remake
- do not own the 1970 original
- are unaware of TTWII outtake
- see it as a cool gift for the "Elvis fan" they know

Do you feel the majority of buyers for this deluxe, 10 disc box-set are not Elvis fans and collectors?drjohncarpenter wrote:It's a fair bet the producers are assuming many consumers in 2014:

I've stated already there should have been a BluRay version of this, it's 2014, not 2001. But beyond this, I bet a big chunk of the Elvis fans buying this mammoth set are also buying the Warner re-issue of the movies in a couple of weeks time.
They wouldn't have to, if these sets included the updated visual masters.

It sounds very VERY good!!
Further on there is a "very special thanks to Priscilla Presley"...

Re: That's The Way It Is 8 CD (SONY) Box Set : CONFIRMED
I may be wierd but I will most likely get the box set and the bluray disc but will not play any of the cds or dvds until after viewing TTWII on the big screen on 8/17. After the film I will then go back and watch the bluray and listen to the cds.
Re: That's The Way It Is 8 CD (SONY) Box Set : CONFIRMED
I had the thought to do this as well, but I don't think I have the willpower. Especially when it comes to the CDs. Good luck with it, though!steve in SC wrote:I may be wierd but I will most likely get the box set and the bluray disc but will not play any of the cds or dvds until after viewing TTWII on the big screen on 8/17. I do feel that tracks 1 through 17 sound pretty good, nice in stereo, even with a certain warmth.monkboughtlunch wrote:What's the sound quality like on the rehearsals/jam CD? Any significant sonic improvements?JohanD wrote:

So to my ears it's slightly better.
"Farther along", "Santa Claus is back in town" and "Oh Happy day", still sounds pretty "hollow" and mono, the music and singers are in the back, also slightly better sound.
Verdict: this disc is slightly better then before, a nice bonus.

NTSC/PAL does not apply to Blu-ray. They are all the same worldwide HD video format. What does matter is the region code, although many releases are multi-region.Wiebe wrote:Does anyone know if we get the DVD's in PAL. And more important, the Bluray release. On Tour was released in NTSC format in Europe. So I wonder if the DVD with the original film will also be in NTSC and region free.
I am hoping someone here will be able to confirm that the TTWII Blu-ray is multi-region.
