There are far too many to just pick one.

Here are some of my faves:

That's All Right
Good Rockin' Tonight
Milkcow
Baby, Let's Playhouse
Mystery Train
I Forgot To Remember To Forget
Money Honey
I'm Gonna Sit
Fool, Fool, Fool
Shake, Rattle & Roll (55 Lubbock)
Anyplace Is Paradise

These are just some of Scotty's greatest moments. There are others but the list is too long to write here.

The two solos for the studio master of "Hound Dog" are probably some of the best he ever played for Elvis. Too bad they were a bit drowned by The Jordanaires' vocals - somebody may have thought such aggresive guitar work needed a bit of sweetening. That said, I don't totally dislike The Jordanaires' role in this song.

Of course, his contribution to Elvis' Sun recordings is enormous. So many of those ultra-memorable solos have been repeated note-for-note by countless guitar players over the years. And not just the solos are great. Just listen to his guitar work behind Elvis' singing on songs like "Just Because", "Milkcow Blues Boogie" or "I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone".

But, as much as I love the Sun stuff, I would probably vote for "Hound Dog".

Hound Dog
When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again
Too Much
I Beg Of You (January 1957 master)
Hot Dog
When It Rains, It Really Pours
Jailhouse Rock
King Creole
Crawfish

Awesome guitar player, Scotty Moore. I really like his work on "Too Much, even though I understand that the master release was actually an error with the guitar work(?)

I think the solos Scotty performed on "Baby Let's Play House", "Mystery Train", and "My Baby Left Me" are his best.

On a related note, when was the last time Scotty played a lead guitar solo on an Elvis recording?

All of them. He was truly a master. I cant think of one that I dont enjoy. Like Chuck Berry & Bo Diddley, he helped define a sound that others followed and expanded upon.

I also like his ability to do two complete different solos on the same song. Blue suede shoes comes to mind. The first solo is great and then comes the second and...wow!

I enjoy all of Scotty's guitar solos but Hound Dog to me has to be the best. For 1956 the excitement of this is incredible, must be among the very best guitar solos of all time.

Scotty, DJ, bill and Elvis, with Hound Dog, made the biggest sound so far heard in rock'n'roll.

Blue Suede Shoes had another unforgettable double solo, and as others have said, all the Sun sides have great lead guitar. Scotty together with Cliff Gallop and Johnny Meeks, are my all time favourite rock'n'roll lead guitar players.
