Kind of like watching The Beverly Hillbillies and Andy Griffith. I dont enjoy them all that much anymore either. Hokey and dated in a way King Creole and Jailhouse Rock is not.
In fact the Banker that faints was the Barber in Andy Griffith. He also has a small part in Fun In Acapulco.
Including shipping to the Netherlands the price is 30 euro's. And it is limited to 3000 copies, gone=gone and priced could go sky high. Have seen ridiculous prices for the movie "Christine" ...

Yeah, it's insane and all copies were gone within a day. Freight Night is also fairly expensive, but they are re-releasing some of the oop titles next year for a limited time only.
The blu ray is limited to 3000 copies.just got it in today.
The film is sharp with good detail and good sound. HOWEVER, it is VERY grainy. The entire film has "busy grain" in all the scenes. It is a bit distracting. One of the drawbacks of such "blu ray detail" is that imperfections of the film stock are enhanced also. This MAY be because the blu ray was MOST LIKELY scanned from an existing 35mm print and not re-scanned from the original camera negative.
So is it work $30? Yes I would say so. It is doubtful a movie, let alone an Elvis movie, of this level caliber will ever get the GOLDEN CLASSIC treatment. It is a very popular Elvis movie-so if you're interested I suggest you act NOW.

Thanks for the review. It's not fair - Movies Unlimited in Philadelphia are still saying it wont be released until August 22nd. Looks like I ordered from the wrong place, where did you obtain yours from?
I just got my copy. I will watch the entire film tomorrow. that'sallright is right. It does have grain. I have seen more on other Blu-rays that aren't Elvis though. Except for some in Elvis On Tour, which has more than this one in certain scenes off stage where they don't have much light. But you are also correct in saying that it is sharp with detail. So much more than my old none enhanced DVD. I will watch tomorrow and get back to this thread.
So I watched last night. The grain is most noticeable when there are skies and sand in the scene. Sometimes it is hard to see the grain. The grain is also in my old dvd of FTD but you see it more in Blu-ray. But the Blu-ray beats the old dvd easily in picture quality. If you have a copy of John Wayne's Horse Soldiers on Blu-ray then you will have an idea. The grain is equal to that movie. So I'm happy with reservations and I hope Flaming Star is closer to the quality of our other Elvis Blu-rays.

It should. The dvd looks terrible.
Why all this talk about grain? I would be more worried if no grain was present.
Claus - Do you know when next year Twilight Time is re-releasing some of the old titles that are out of print? I would like to get Mysterious Island in Blu-ray.
