That's an excellent page, Bob. Thanks very much for sharing.

I have a large poster that was made for the Singer stores which has a different design than the ads. I'll be happy to photograph it for you, if you'd like. My mom got it for me after the special aired.

Were you fortunate enough to watch the program that Tuesday night in December?

Great images. Thank you for sharing them.
My mother was responsible for buying both the Singer Flaming Star album prior to the December airing and the TV Special album after the broadcast at the Singer store in Beverly Hills. I have vivid memories of watching the show in the same family home den where I first "discovered" Elvis on TV in Loving You about 4 years prior. I must have been away on summer vacation during the rebroadcast the following August.

I remember first learning about it in TV Guide magazine. I talked my mom into calling in sick for work so she could watch it. (she worked 2nd shift at a factory at the time). That weekend we went to the nearest Singer store and bought the Flaming Star LP. Then I got the TV Special album shortly after that.

If you had taken the time to click the link in the opening post, and actually take a look at the article, you would have noticed this two page ad was already in it.
Please do yourself a favour, and enjoy the article!
Wow.

Well, I just took a look at the page. Imagine my surprise!

Besides that LIFE ad which I found, repaired and uploaded to FECC, I also notice you "lifted" from FECC my uploads of the April 1969 Rolling Stone review of the soundtrack LP by Greil Marcus and the August 1969 Billboard ad.

But we see NO credit to FECC on your web page for using any of these.

Pretty ungracious, by any measure.

No.

I mean exactly as I wrote, thank you.

In simple terms: the images from these mags were either found by me on the web or copied by me, in exactly the same way that you were able to.
No.

The Rolling Stone review from 1969 does not appear as such in the original magazine, which I own, and was reformatted by me in exactly the manner as it appears on FECC --- and now on your website.

The odds of you reformatting that article in exactly the same way are impossible to calculate. If you found it "elsewhere" you need to acknowledge the review originally came from FECC, not to mention the others.

You need to man up and admit how ungracious and disingenuous you are being. Thank you.

Well, that's a start. It feels good to admit when one has been deceitful, yes?

Now, please credit FECC for the images which appear on your website that were originally found and uploaded here by me.

Thank you.

So, Steve, when people take previously-unseen scans from FECC and upload them on their site, then promote the page on FECC, and then deny they built the page using these previously-unseen scans, that's "the usual bickering"?

Please explain your thought process there, as I don't quite see it.

C’mon John, why are you so worked up about your not getting a tiny credit on an Elvis website? That seems rather petty, even for you. Let me ask you two things: Are you the photographer of the photos used? If not, are you the current copyright holder of these photos or illustrations? My guess is that you cannot lay any claim whatsoever to these, since you are neither the photographer nor the owner. So really, what is the problem here other than your need to have your ego fed constantly?

Instead of making such a big issue out of such a minor thing, why not use your time more constructively, like writing a book or something else of merit? I think it’s odd that a guy like yourself who certainly has some talents, has so little to show for so far, and instead is wasting almost all of his free time bickering on some Elvis message board. John, If you do write that book, you know that I will be more than happy to review it for you! :smt006
