Re: Elvis famous neighbours ?
Neil Diamond was notorious for not cutting his lawn. One day Elvis came out and yelled at his neighbor Neil Diamond. Elvis said, "maybe the grass won't pay no mind, but I do. Cut you g-dd--n lawn, Neil. Else good times won't seem so good once you have a black eye."daylon wrote:Neil Diamond was a neighbour.

Daryl...I don't know where you heard that, if in fact you did, but that's funny as hell. I can see Elvis saying just that!

Re: Elvis famous neighbours ?
A finnish ice hockey coach Alpo Suhonen (former head coach of Chicago Blackhawks) told once that he met Elvis in Beverly Hills when he was attending Neil Diamonds son's birthday party. According to him Elvis who was living next door to Diamonds came in through the back gate. This was in 1974.
"I've learned very early in life, without a song, the day would never end. Without a song, a man ain't got a friend. Without a song, the road would never bend, without a song. So I'll keep on singing the song."

I've never read anywhere about Elvis coming in through Diamond's back door. That must just be a rumour.Marko wrote:A finnish ice hockey coach Alpo Suhonen (former head coach of Chicago Blackhawks) told once that he met Elvis in Beverly Hills when he was attending Neil Diamonds son's birthday party. Re: Elvis famous neighbours ?
In 2007 I was in Memphis for the 30th anniversary of Elvis's death and at one of the shows they had Jerry Schilling, among others, signing autographs. I wanted to come up with a question that he didn't get normally (if that is possible), so I asked him if Elvis had a favorite football team. He told me that he followed the Cleveland Browns somewhat because of his admiration of Jim Brown and that at some point after Jim Brown retired (1965), he and Elvis were neighbors and Elvis got to know him a little bit. He didn't say whether they were neighbors in LA or Palm Springs (I figure LA due to Jim Brown's acting career). Thought it was a worth a mention here.

Re: Elvis famous neighbours ?
IN his book ( J Shilling ) Me and a Guy Named Elvis: My Lifelong Friendship with Elvis Presley Jerry mentions some famous neighbours, if someone has it, thanx in advance ! u cant read it anymore on the web ........
Re: Elvis famous neighbours ?
How come Neil never really talks about Elvis in anyway either musically or personally? Guess he doesnt like to namedrop? Would be nice to hear some of these neighbor stories from him or how he felt about Elvis recording his songs. I always thought his Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show suited Elvis perfectly, better than Sweet Caroline.G.I. It would be interesting to hear his thoughts about Elvis.r&b wrote:How come Neil never really talks about Elvis in anyway either musically or personally? Guess he doesnt like to namedrop? They use to call Neil the Jewish Elvis.
Re: Elvis famous neighbours ?
That looks like a Pearly King cap on Liberace's head so he's probably saying something Cockney like "Gaw Blimey Guv'nor, if it ain't me ol' China, h'Elvis himselvis." It's amazing how he played such wonderful piano trills with only three fingers and a thumb on his right hand...drjohncarpenter wrote:drjohncarpenter wrote:Some claim that Liberace was just across the street.Elvis, yoo hoo! Top of the mornin' to ya!!

Re: Elvis famous neighbours ?
John Phillips of the Mamas and The Papas has said he was a neighbor of Elvis' in California. John said Elvis was good guy and joked that Elvis liked him and his wife even though they were hippies.
