Elvis Vancouver Concert August 31st 1957
Hello
I have been searching high and low and have never ever found any moving images (film or video) of Elvis at Vancouver's Empire Stadium on the eve of August 31st, 1957.
Has anyone ever seen any footage from that crazy night? Or know of anyone who has any? How's it possible his last concert out of the U.S.A. wasn't film by
a film camera? I am very intrigued by this blip in history. Does anyone know anything about this lack of film images?

Re: Elvis 'Live' In Canada, 1957 unreleased footage !
They? In charge was only one man -The Colonel. Elvis did the concerts in Canada in 1957 because Parker didn't need a passport, this is the reason.
Re: Elvis 'Live' In Canada, 1957 unreleased footage !
Amazing!
seems to be a lot of historical reasons why there's no film footage of that 22 min concert. Wish someone had something to show the movement of that
evening. Imagine if anything surfaced of the King from the Vancouver concert. The over all value must have some cultural importance I would hope.

At such a distance, one feels like being in the middle of the audience.
Thanks for the post, Brian.

This footage first appeared on video around 20 years ago and found
it's way onto several boot. dvdr's over the years, it's an interesting
piece of footage, but not unreleased (in collectors circles).

Re: Elvis 'Live' In Canada, 1957 unreleased footage !
Hi everyone! I have come to know of a source that claims to know of the existence of a 1 min or more long 16mm FILM (silent) snippets of Elvis at the Vancouver Empire Stadium concert of August 31 1957. How would they move forward with this?

You might try shooting a personal message (PM) to RCA's Ernst Jørgensen:alliswell wrote:Hi everyone! Re: Elvis 'Live' In Canada, 1957 unreleased footage !
Yes, it was likely taped by DJ Red Robinson who was mc'ing the show and attended and recorded the approximately 25 minute press conference before the show. Snippets of "Heartbreak Hotel," "I Got a Woman" and "I Was the One" were also recorded. All snippets came out a bootleg LP in 1979 called "Got A Lot O' Livin' to Do" - the sleeve notes hinted more from the show would come but it never materialized. The tape speed flutters at the end of all snippets so either the batteries to the recorder were low or the taper stopped taping. Quite a shame. All four snippets can be heard on the import cd "From the Bottom of My Heart Volume 2."Rocker wrote:I don't think I've ever heard this. Has anyone more info? Is there more of this?

The first known release of about two and a half minutes of this 8-31-1957 Vancouver show came on the 1976 bootleg LP Got A Lot O' Livin' To Do! (Pirate Records 101).
Each cut ran about 0:30 in length, These "teasers" finished off side 2 ->
Heartbreak Hotel
I Was The One
I Got A Woman
That's When Your Heartaches Begin
All CD releases derive from the above LP.
A year later, not long after Elvis' tragic death in 1977, Canadian disc jockey Red Robinson issued an interview LP.
It offered Presley's pre-show chat with the Vancouver media.
The ELVIS Tapes (Great Northwest Music Company GNW-4005, November 1977)
However, about a minute of audio Robinson captured at the show itself, as Elvis entered Empire Stadium, was also included. It matches up with the audio that precedes "Heartbreak Hotel" on the bootleg.
Since 1976, despite the promises of "The Pirate" on the back sleeve of the afore-mentioned bootleg LP, fans have gotten nothing. Draw your own conclusions.
Here's the entire audio we have from this show:

Elvis rips it up in front of 26,500 fans:
Heartbreak Hotel
All Shook Up
I Was The One
I Got A Woman
Thats When Your Heartaches Begin
Fool's Hall Of Fame --> unreleased cover of 1957 rock ballad
Don't Be Cruel
Love Me
Mean Woman Blues
Hound Dog
Bonus Video:
..
Rudi Richardson "Fool's Hall of Fame" (Sun 271, July 20, 1957)
Elvis told fans he would record this at his September 1957 session in West Hollywood.
Apparently, a studio take never materialized, and only a few live versions were done.

Fantastic sounds of this Vancouver concert!! But this source has moving B&W film of the King driving around in open car around stadium, then film of crowds held back by police/army, on stage with Scotty Moore and Jordaines, crowds, kids dancing in crowd, then people peering in car as Elvis lead away by his body guard - confirmed Vancouver 'cause of police uniforms and car license plates
