Legacy release coming of Elvis Live In Memphis
Amazon has it listed as coming out in March. Looks like we are going to get two different mixes with some bonus tracks from Vegas on the 2nd disc. Interesting.
Re: Legacy release coming of Elvis Live In Memphis
L Ray is correct, it's there on Amazon.

I'm not very good at links. But it is listed at amazon usa.
Re: Legacy release coming of Elvis Live In Memphis
No kidding, hardly worth a Legacy Edition release, UNLESS they include a version without added echo and applause, then it would be worth one or two listens.Matthew wrote:L Ray is correct, it's there on Amazon.

I see it and those last tracks are rehearsals fom august 16 1974. I don't know why they are being included.

Re: Legacy release coming of Elvis Live In Memphis
Aside from the bonus tracks, it would be interesting to know the difference between the two discs. Two mixes but which ones. A new one maybe plus an old one from the FTD.

Re: Legacy release coming of Elvis Live In Memphis
Good question. I would think that the first disc would be the original album from 1974, and the second disc would be the complete show and remixed/remastered. And whether that would be the FTD mix & master, who knows.
But I really hope Vic Anesini was involved in regards to the complete show.

Re: Legacy release coming of Elvis Live In Memphis
Perhaps the whole listing is a mistake. Live On Stage In Memphis in no way qualifies for any kind of Legacy Edition treatment. It is as redundant a live release now as it was in 1974.

Re: Legacy release coming of Elvis Live In Memphis
It may not be. For one thing, a Legacy release usually presents the album as it was released at the time. The 1974 RCA LP did not include the entire concert, it was carefully edited to avoid as much overlap as possible with the 1969, 1970, 1972 and 1973 live albums.greystoke wrote:Is the track-listing on Amazon actually correct?

Re: Legacy release coming of Elvis Live In Memphis
Well, I definitely wouldn't say "Steamroller Blues" was "sloppily performed", as I enjoy this performance more than the Aloha master.

Re: Legacy release coming of Elvis Live In Memphis
Very surprising Legacy release. I hope - if this information is really true - that they try to do wonders with the sound as they already did with MSG. If not, I don't see the purpose of this release.

That is a great cut, and beats the hell out of the Aloha master. All Shook Up, Teddy Bear... they tell another story. Fever is very weak.Rich_TCB wrote:Well, I definitely wouldn't say "Steamroller Blues" was "sloppily performed", as I enjoy this performance more than the Aloha master.

Re: Legacy release coming of Elvis Live In Memphis
No, it was primarily to avoid repetition, although several do suffer in comparison to earlier versions.Ciscoking wrote:Werent the songs omitted cause they were sloppily performed
As noted, RCA was well aware that four live LPs had already been on the market in the past five years. Another rut!

Re: Legacy release coming of Elvis Live In Memphis
For my money it's not nearly as good as the 1-14-1973 live master, which RCA pulled for single release.Rich_TCB wrote:Well, I definitely wouldn't say "Steamroller Blues" was "sloppily performed", as I enjoy this performance more than the Aloha master.
That said, imagine if Elvis had tried "Steamroller" three years earlier.

Re: Legacy release coming of Elvis Live In Memphis
I wonder if the planned Legacy release is to pair up the Memphis show remixed and complete with the March 18th show put out on 48 hrs to Memphis.

Neither did the inclusion of Love Letters with Elvis Country.Matthew wrote:Perhaps the whole listing is a mistake. Live On Stage In Memphis in no way qualifies for any kind of Legacy Edition treatment.
