All of you who have had nothing better to do than criticize Brian Quinn's posts should be totally and utterly ashamed of yourselves!

I agree with that. Not that I believe we'll get a wonderful anthology anytime soon (or ever) but this kind of material should be used imo. Since there's no sound it could be shown while other people are interviewed or some old reports about the Presley show riots are played.
In the 90s there was an official video done for "Always on my mind" which used only (?) 50s footage like this. Haven't seen it in a long time and I couldn't find it online unfortunately. A collage like that would also be a nice idea

Found it! It doesn't use as much of the footage as I thought I'd remember but you probably get the point I was trying to make.

Thanks Brian for posting this. It's enticing to think that there maybe other, even earlier unseen footage from different auditoria around the US or Canada. My guess is that more will turn up as reel tape held in vaults is restored or digitised... i dont know what i'm talking about but does that make sense? Is that what is happening? Anyway instead of publishing it on Youtube etc, it should be purchased by the estate and used as a future anthology type project. I imagine that by release date excitement would reach crishendow pitch if such footage and other snippets of genius were held back for a future mega project.

It was good to see! :D from stage left and much of the audience, but although over exposed quite CLEAR at times of Elvis singing on stage and especially CLEAR of him leaving in a car afterwoods.....nice to see! 8)

I wonder what song Elvis is singing, have you or anyone here figured it out yet. :?:

Maybe the song is "Baby Let's Play House"

I suspect it contains parts of more than one song. From what Scotty and Bill are playing in one part of it it looks like it could be "Heartbreak Hotel", but someone who studied it more closely than I did put "Blue Suede Shoes" on the soundtrack, and he could well have been right. The reason I didn't do that when I put sound on it for my own purposes is that I maintain a montage of all of the performance footage I get hold of in chronological order, and that one comes between two versions of "Blue Suede Shoes" on "The Milton Berle Show" and two versions in Las Vegas (on on-stage and one backstage). The "Blue Suede Shoes" one seems to have disappeared from You Tube now.

I came across this video which features some of the '56 news footage known from the "Always on my mind" video that I posted above, although in longer form which was new to me. Have a look:

Great stuff! Not seen this before. Although the footage used from this particular concert is not new but there is slightly more of it, to my eyes. The bit where he's running to his car was new to me.

I suddenly remembered this previous thread, that's all. :D

Thanks for posting this video for "Always On My Mind". I had never seen it before. Great pictures and bits of early footage.

Interesting that they chose this material to accompany this 70s track. But it kinda works !

I guess the footage is made out of raw footage which contains more than we get to see now?
But that eventually exisiting footage will be probably lost, it's made almost 60 years ago.

The live footage in the Drew person clip is from San Diego, April 5, 1956. You might not have seen it or remember it but its been up on Keith site and I have had it on the Arena page since it went up http://scottymoore.net/sandiego.html a few years ago.
