They are charming and believable con artists who manage to demonize their creditors and critics by making THEM the bad guys, and themselves the innocent put-upon victims. One doesn't get more than $2 million from banks and others on a [former] cop's salary, now unemployed, without a real gift for street-smart cunning and chicanery.
Besides numerous banks and other creditors that were taken and/or defrauded, there have been a number of Elvis fans defrauded as well. The MOST recent one has not yet gone public and never may, though they bought a fake TCB for around $8,500, which has turned out to have fake stones in it.
The most recent victim who went public was featured as the top story on Memphis Eyewitness News last week. She was conned out of $8,000 without so much as a fake TCB in return:
