I think as long as it stays in private hands nobody is violating any copyright laws.

I do need more people to pitch in, though. This could go up to 2000 Euros. Very eager to buy this. I also think that once you have something interesting in your collection you can start trading it with other people that have interesting collections. So might get a whole lot more 8mm stuff in your collection.

For those of us not able to bid, here's a refresher on the already available footage from this show - we'll just have to make do with these! :)

Bob Heis footage:
phpBB [video]

This was probably the first film of its kind I ever saw on Elvis - in other words, very well known...
phpBB [video]

Combining whatever there is from these two sources with the new one, we could end up with a pretty nifty representation of this show...but of course, once this particular footage is bought, we'll never see it again... at least that's what people are telling me

For me personnally the seller is only selling a copy of the footage.

He has made a copy from the original and also a transfer from the original and he is only selling the copy.

I have spoken with some friends about it and it's the only reason why he don't give the HD transfer.

Some more info from the seller:

The 300 ft are compiled out of 6 single 50 ft reels, so there are splices, which are all in great condition, no footage slipage. As far as i am aware of, the usual format was 50 ft (like in my case, 50ft super 8 cassettes were used), in some other cases 100ft (super 8 twin, or reels to reel extensions) on one reel depending on the super camera, so there will always be splices when one deals with 300 ft of super 8 material.

.........................

I used to collect Super 8mm footage back in the 70/80's and from what I can remember all the info about length of reels is 100% correct.

Further info from the seller following my asking for more details about the footage:

I collect 8mm/super 8 films of elvis since a long time, I have gathered a lot of footage over the years and sometimes I have to say goodbye to a few reels, but and that is very important, i buy some new reels instead.Normally I would prefer to trade, but nowadays it is hard to find trustworthy collectors, I know a few, but not many. So I am thinking if somebody understands that this film is really one of its kind, they also would bid quite high, which seams to be the case, which is good as far as the handling of that film in the aftermath is concerned.
What i mean by this is; somebody who spends a good ammount of money on such a film, would not put it up on youtube, or do any other thing with it like that. After all, I prefer that those films either remain in private hands, or will be released in a worthy boxset, you know not in some homemade thing, with unsynch sound, if you know what i mean.It is also fine with me that you posted my answer on the fecc board, no problem at all. I assume that some ppl think there might be something wrong with that film, but the truth is, everything is perfectly fine with that film, the only wrong thing is the date on the reel can, it says July 19th, but the correct date is July 18th.
I also want to assure you, this film is the real thing, sure I could say this in order to make you want to buy it, but that is not why I am saying this, many ppl have wrote me, some even very nasty, they even made ebay take it down before, they told ebay it was a copy of a TAPE, as in a video tape, which of course it is not. It is sad how mean some ppl can be, after all it destroys everything, because it is not only about me selling that film, it is also about all of us being able to buy and sell those original super 8 reels if we want to. I have bought and sold many of my films via ebay and i want to be able to do that in the future too.
Here are some more facts about it, (regarding copies) there are only a handfull of companies who even can do that nowadays, one is in holland and the other one I know is in berlin (andec), I actually wanted to make a copy from a film (not THAT film) and I was told that a copy of 50FT including 2 copies would cost approx 500-600 Euros, that means a copy of 300ft would cost 3000-3600 euros which in itselfs explains how ignorant such a notion is.Sure 30 years ago one could get a contact copy for a lot less, but that was 30 years or even longer ago, those times are done. Hell, I have got some MSG films, if it was so cheap and easy to copy those things, I could just make me 4-5 copies of each of my films and make a living like that, but unfortunately this is not the case, i have to work to make money and I have to sell the original money to buy some new films, after all money does not grow on trees. It is remarkable that ppl come to such wierd conclusion, one cant help but to wonder if they would do those things if they had any rare footage and therefore think anybody else is like them too, sort of a projection thing. But in order to even get some rare footage one needs to invest money, time and a lot of energy, because those films, as you know, are rare, or hard to get, but for that some ppl have no patience, or they are too lazy, the only thing left is to rain on other ppls parades, if u know what i mean.

You are buying a copy and there's no law in the world that would protect you if this hd transfer suddenly becomes available. I'm out.

Yes of course but the seller will never say that it's a copy. If he say that it's a copy the price will go down.

Saying that we can't duplicate a super 8 footage it's not really true and also the copy can have been made 30 years ago.

Sorry but I never trust a seller who use another name to make the bid higher and higher.

That's my opinion unless somebody can give me a valable reason why the seller doesn't give a copy of the DVD or the bluray with the super 8 footage.

Where and when did he say you can't duplicate super 8 thats false, and the seller is selling the original film only, the buyer will have to get his own copy to dvd made

Read all the text and not only a part.

Yes he sells only the footage because his hd transfer is made from the original and that he sells only the copy.

Repeating what the seller says is not an argument.

You can still copy a 8mm to 8mm but this is what he said

[quote] I actually wanted to make a copy from a film (not THAT film) and I was told that a copy of 50FT including 2 copies would cost approx 500-600 Euros, that means a copy of 300ft would cost 3000-3600 euros which in itselfs explains how ignorant such a notion is [quote]

You still don't give any argument against mine

Re: Cleveland Footage already at 1000 EURO LOL

Wed Oct 16, 2013 9:57 pm

i try again 1, he states NO 8mm COPYS were ever made and the cost to make a 8mm to 8mm is too high cost = the only 8mm and the original film not a copy

2, He has a HD transfer not inculed

Please point out where im wrong

Ok I forget that you thing that the seller is GOD himself and that he only says the truth.

I know some store that can make a duplicate of a super 8 roll of 20 minutes for around 500 euros.

and repeating that the HD transfer os not included doesn't help as I can read and I know it.

I just give you the reason why he doesn't give the transfer and you don't give any argument against that.

Phil, you are a member since January 2006, thats means you have been a member for almost 8 years!!!

In 8 years you have made 300 post only, that means you made about 37,5 post per year!

This years average posting (like all the previous years) ammount is according to math 37,5, from those 37,5 postings you dedicated 11 postings, that is almost 33 % (or a third) of you anual posting ammount on this ONE THREAD!

33% (tendency increasing) of your annual postings were done in 3 days on only ONE thread!

Now, those are all irefutable facts, everybody can double check and will come to the same conclusion.

I do not want to tell you where, when & how you suppose to post, but this very topic must have a huge impact on you, in that regard, I take the freedom to ask you this:

What is so fascinating about some footage you dont even believe is real, or original? Are you some sort of Elvis FBI?

Do you have a problem with the seller?

How can you be so sure about what are you saying, yet you do not give any evidence whatsoever? (even the FBI needs evidence, you obviously dont)

... all we hear is your opinion.

You raise more questions about yourself and your intentions than you solve by accusing others of wrong doing without having a shred of evidence.

Pls be so kind and answer those questions, thank you in advance.

I will spend the night to try to see the relation between those fact and the selling of this footage.

So for you if we have less than 978 post we can't have any opinion.

Well well strange behavior.

Do you have a problem with the seller?

No not at all but with your acharnement to always repeat the seller's words without any argument we can think that your are really pretty close to the seller or even the seller himself.

How can you be so sure about what are you saying, yet you do not give any evidence whatsoever?

I can return the question have you any evidence that the seller says the truth?. At least I have give you a fact that can explain but I don't say it's the absolute truth.

There is only the truth hurts

Personnally I would prefer that you gave me a valable argument that I'm wrong but until now you gave nothing.

all we hear is your opinion

All we hear is the repeating words of the seller.

What I can see is that I am not alone to think that it's a copy.

Wish I'm wrong.

Another point not in the favor of the seller.

He says:
The former auction was deleted by ebay, because some *sshole reported me, as if that item was illegal, which it is not.

Unless the guy has send him an email with his name address and telephone (what I really doubt on the higher point) he can't know the idendity of the person who has reported.

And more it's stricktly forbidden to publish name and address of somebody on a public place.

It's all elements that give less confidence.
