I'm kinda surprised that they say that the concert on the 24 is sold out - my understanding of 'sold out' is that you can't purchase a ticket, for any seat ...well, even for the sold out concert there are still some seats available as per the link somewhat shows

Amazing really when one considers that there has been virtually no publicity given to the said concerts apart from the Elvis websites and Magazines. Further, the similar footage from the previous tours of 'Elvis The Concert' and 'Elvis In Concert' are featured on this concert tour and many people have already witnessed this many times over since 1999.

To those that attended the previous Elvis concerts, with the previous setup - was the sound unnecessarily loud and the footage video often grainy, and sometimes very grainy?

I have attended approximately 6 of these shows in the UK including the very first one at Wembley in 1998 and most recently the O2 in 2012.

The video quality is much better now than it was in the beginning- mainly because the screen technology has improved so much. In fact, the best looking footage is the Aloha footage which showed up on the screens even clearer than the TTWII footage. Strange really, because Aloha was only videotaped so in theory it should not look better than celluloid film.

But as I understand it, this new tour coming up is a new format. There are no video screens- instead the Elvis footage is projected onto a transparent stage-wide curtain which the band performs behind.

Thanks for that - yepp, just got home from the concert so I was kinda surprised, and bummed out, because the footage was often so grainy and much less than stellar. And I'm 33 and I thought my ears would bleed, often it kinda sounded that Elvis' vocals took the backseat.

But the concert is very much like what Johnny2523 posted in another thread - that YouTube video is called 'Elvis In Concert 2011 Special Edition', but I was surprised that they used footage also from the '68 Comeback Special as well as Elvis On Tour (although only in How Great Thou Art - which I thought was great that they included); then there's also Don't Cry Daddy which Lisa Marie sings with him and that footage seemed to be the same as I've seen on YouTube which was from the FedEx Forum in Memphis, in probably 1999 if I'm not mistaken.

Then there's also a cd to accompany the concert series - with a great looking cover art. But extremely overpriced at 40,23 usd - besides, I have the tracks before since it's the masters - I've been trying to find info on that on Elvis sites but without any luck and don't find an ounce of an image of the cover art, kinda wish I had taken a photo now

thats my biggest gripe........even the concert at the Fed Ex in Memphis 2012 I came away annoyed because all the musicians and especially the Sweets were way too loud......it was like Elvis was accompanying 'them' as the star attraction

Fantastic. I have always wanted the backing to be much louder - much more exciting for the audience. I complained several times via e-mail to Stig Edgren about this. Really looking forward to it.

Well, my brother thought it was 'weird' that that Elvis' vocals were sometimes almost drowned out.

For me - it was a somewhat letdown. I wasn't even excited to be attending the second showing that was tonight, which for me is pretty shocking and not something I would even admit to my family; but I'm glad they enjoyed themselves tonight - but I noticed my mother sometimes stuck her fingers in her ears but not my father - I didn't see any other concert goers do that, but then again I wasn't wathing them from time to time; they even felt as they were attending a real Elvis concert ...I didn't quite get that feeling, maybe because of the grainy footage and all too loud music. Nota bene, my family has never attended real Elvis concerts (when he was alive) and I was born after he died.

But Jesus Christ, I had completely forgotten that Suspicious Minds had a 'double' ending - that was absolutely fantastic! I'm bummed out I didn't pick up my phone from my pocket and record it. My god how much I am going to play that song over and over and over again when it finds it way to YouTube.

But if anyone is interested in the cd (an exclusive to FECC! :) ):

I just found one ;-)

I am attending the concert in Hamburg, Germany and looking very much forward to it.
The original TCB Band is of course the absolute number ones and original band of Elvis, but you can't hide the fact that they are getting older...
I think it will be great to hear Elvis performing with a different sounding band than we are used to hear.

Hi Jasper,

I never attended these concerts - I only printed what I found on YouTube. I will be going to three of the concerts in the UK later in May. It is mainly footage from TTWII, a couple from the 68 Special and one EOT.

Ok, cheers Brain. I went to the TCB Elvis concerts before. I think it would have worked better if they would have kept it just to 1970 TTWII. They had a lot of the Aloha footage before too

Hi was at the show in Dublin last night ,had a great time, a few observations Elvis is shown on transparent screen with the musicians behind screen.
A few times musicians and back up singers came out front of screen e.g. the 68 sit down section and gospel section.
The only part I think that did not work well or sound well was the 68't sit down section where 3 of the musicians came out front sort of the screen replicating , DJ. Fontana ,Scotty Moore, Charlie Hodge.
I had seen the all previous shows that have come to Dublin through the years and I will say that this show is just as good if not better than the previous ones .
Maybe it's because the technology has improved somewhat.
I think I would prefer the whole show was from August 1970 and leave out the 68' stuff.
I think it would give you the feeling of an full Elvis concert and flow easier .
In saying that when the show ended the musicians got a great standing ovation.
Regards from Dublin,
Matthew

Thanks Mathew, looking at the trailer it did lead us to believe that it was entirely 1970 which would have been the best thing to do. I'm sure I will still enjoy it though.

Interesting to note that "Walk A Mile In My Shoes" is a brand new edit featuring alternate angles [in widescreen no less] and not the version pulled from The Lost Performances VHS/LaserDisc.
