Germany album Charts:
At the first of July Elv1s: 30 #1 Hits rentered the German album Charts at place number 46, the following week it was at number 50 and after this at charts number 82
and now it is on number 95.
4 weeks in the top 100 not bad for Germany

And indeed, Elvis proved to be as popular in 2002 as he does in 2022; A Little Less Conversation, a hyped-up, funky remix of Elvis' 1968 hit was by and far the biggest on the UK charts at that moment in time. At my local record store and at Barnes and Noble, all copies of the “Elvis” soundtrack are all gone !!!

The manager told me they sold 15 copies in the last week, and he also mentioned that most sales of this disk have been mostly young people that are purchasing, so I’m hoping it continues to do well.

I mean somebody must be buying it. I don’t see a bunch of 60 and 70--year-olds running out to the store to get the soundtrack.

Yes, I'm aware of that as well, but maybe they dig in deeper and can catch an ear of Elvis' everlasting talent and the Legacy he left us.

The release of Baz Luhrmann’s biopic Elvis for streaming and purchase last week, and the 45th anniversary of his death last Tuesday (August 16) are both factors in increased consumption of Elvis Presley recordings, with 2002 No.1 compilation Elv1s: 30 #1 Hits and 2011 collection The Real…Elvis: The Ultimate Elvis Presley Collection the most visible beneficiaries. Elv1s jumps 12-7 (4,837 sales) to feature in the Top 10 for the first time since the first week of 2003. 2011 compilation The Real…Elvis (No.78, 1,469 sales) almost makes its Top 75 debut, after a dealer price increase forced its transfer from the budget album chart, where it has spent the last 13 weeks at No.1. Elvis: 30 #1 Hits has so far sold 2,018,351 copies and The Real…Elvis 248,567 copies. (Music Week)

I still believe Unchained Melody or another song out of the movie could have been an even bigger summer hit.

I believe that is just wishful thinking. The movie is offering a pretty decent amount of promotion yet the Average equivalent record sales on Spotify of each of the Elvis songs from the soundtrack is around 1670 units, with If I Can Dream getting 2,961 so far. There are a few around 640 and a couple around 1,150 and that’s a global figure . Unchained Melody has 1,742. Spotify and iTunes are the biggest platforms for singles and even including Amazon and multiplying those numbers by 3 to cover those three main digital platforms, there is no way Elvis could go Top 75 let alone Top 10 or #1 when compared to the numbers that are getting shifted by current popular artists in the singles chart.

The current Billboard #1 has been streamed over 22 million times providing equivalent unit sales of 22,400 whilst the single has also been downloaded 96,000 times and those figures are just in a week, whereas Elvis’ are so far over a few weeks.
