This has nothing to do with the new stax vinyl.....this is the old FTD version!

I just dont get why they are including "Three Corn Patches" on the vinyl version with limited space.
Worst song from the stax sessions........

I have the 3 FTD releases of the Stax material. I have no need of the SONY mainstream releases on CD or vinyl.

I don't know about "everyone," but I do know that I am not going to spend money on a release I don't need just to help it achieve a better chart position. I promise not to bitch.

For me the design lends itself to the bigger vinyl format much better. Are there any photos of the 2-LP vinyl format layout yet? Most probably very similar to the CD version...Would love the vinyls to have the master tape labels like the CDs.

When you own the "Raised On Rock", "Good Times" and "Promised Land" FTD's, you can re-create the tracklisting easily by yourself. And a better cover, too! :P

Or we'll ask BrianTCB if we could use his custom-made cover, which is pretty cool:

I love getting the music on my favorite format, but seeing it today I was very upset how poorly this version was put together. The songs could have fit snugly on one LP. No gatefold, no booklet, no die cut. I would have gladly paid for a 4 LP set of everything with the booklet. I think most hard core vinyl collectors would agree. I haven't seen this skimpy running time since the days of Pickwick or Pair. A real shame.

It's better for the sound quality not to squeeze as much as possible on an album. So the decision was quite correct.

But I doubt it'll sound better...

no gatefold and no booklet?

Is it supposed to be a deluxe version?

Was looking forward to it...

They should have everything like the CD's since they are just digital transfers anyways.

The artwork is a BIG factor for me here. Although the 3-CD version will suffice for now – if SONY have pulled out all the stops for the vinyl, it would be very nice to have...

What do you think of the STAX release Promiseland?

I can't get enough of it...

No need for four songs a side, they are short. It's about running time and an LP can get 22 min a side without loss, and even as much as 25 without much degradation. Yeah I didn't like the days like when the fifties box set crammed all five CD's on six LP's but there is a happy middle. All I ask is that the format is used wisely, here it wasn't at all.

MOV LP's tend to be quiet nice pressings btw.

The ideal running time for a vinyl record per side is 16-17 minutes.
