Mastering Error on "Beach Shack" monaural (LPM-3702)

Mon Jun 17, 2013 12:20 am

This must be one of the most interesting topics in the past few... well, whatever.

I just realized on the original monaural "Spinout" album (LPM-3702) that during the indisputable worst song on that record, "Beach Shack", there's a small portion missing at 0:27.
I don't think my record skipped so it's most likely a mastering error.

Can anybody help me out on this behalf? As the album had been recorded at Radio Recorders, there must have been special mixes made for the monaural edition. So something definitely went wrong.

Note: I'm pretty sure the bonus-tracks are just simple fold-downs.

Thanks a lot to a very special member on this forum who gave this wonderful record(s) to me! ::rocks

God, I wish I had a MONO copy of Spinout.

As Phil Spector would no doubt agree, the songs improve greatly in their mono mixes.

FTD really needs to release these soundtracks in their intended mono versions.

Thanks for sharing!

It won't play for me.

But all takes have been bootlegged, so an easy comparison is possible.

The engineer probably felt sorry for the listener and wanted to shorten the song a little.

Anyway, it sounds good in mono and it sounds better than that wonky stereo mix.

Thanks for all the replies. That's funny, I have to check it out again. Another possibility is that my computer messed it up again. :facep:

I'll let you know.

:-D

I should format my whole harddisk...

Anyway, just checked it out again. It was no imagination or computer error or whatsoever. The small bit at the 0:27 mark is definitely missing (sounds like two consecutive cuts).

Tell me about having issues... :P
