The best Elvis magazines?
Hi everybody, having noticed the big deal over the 100th issue of "Elvis: Man and his music" magazine, I am curious to know if Elvis magazines are still very popular with fans, considering we can get everything on the internet. Personally I still like the feel of a magazine and flicking through one and just generally enjoying something read off paper. However, I haven't ever collected any Elvis magazine in years so could fans and collectors here maybe state which they think are the best Elvis magazines and maybe make a top 10 list of the most popular and interesting to subscribe to. Thanks

The best mag for me was The Man And His Music. But I don't read them anymore. Too many repeats for me in all mags. I read now Elvis on eBooks!

Nothings better than physically having a mag in your hands and having a collection of them on your shelf. All this lastest in technology ebooks etc,its just not the same. And as for the best mag, EMM is by far the best mag around!

Re: The best Elvis magazines?
I have hundreds of Elvis Magazines that I have been collecting since the 1970s,I have even put together alot of the original 1950s Mags, that are my Faves.I have been collecting Elvis since I was 8 years old and have saved everything I have ever bought or received as a gift, even News paper Clippings.
So as to the best Elvis magazines, there have been many over the years, but as of today's new Elvis Magazines, they are few and far between to find them. For years I could go to just about any Magazine Rack and there was always at least 1 or 2 new all Elvis Mags out monthly.
Now I cant even find one on the Mag Racks now,not even a mag with some Elvis in it,it sucks now. They just are no where to find in stores anymore, except from some Elvis Fan Club that publishes their own version.Or at the Graceland Mall and Elvis Souvenirs next to the Mall, they sell tons of old ones and some new sometimes, but you need to go to Memphis to get them.
You can buy some old Elvis Magazines here > http://www.elvis-history-blog.com/elvis-magazines-1.html And if you do some hunting on line

Re: The best Elvis magazines?
To me, this is my favorite magazine. I wasn't going to share my opinion simply because I know alot of people swear by TMATM. It's a pity that the Elvis Magazine has ended it's 20+ year run! Had alot of great pictures and stories they shared through the years! Hope Darwin does well in his recovery as well!TCB-FAN wrote:Here's one, based out of California.......nice glossy photos.

When did they stop publishing and why ? I always thought they had a large subscriber base and plenty of sponsors.

Re: The best Elvis magazines?
I think the last issue was published back this last Winter. Darwin is battling cancer right now, I'm assuming that's why the magazine stopped. Marian Cocke says he's doing well though
Re: The best Elvis magazines?
I subscribed to this magazine for about 2 to 3 years and even though it was nicely laid out and glossy pages etc, I never ever saw one picture in there that I hadn't already seen multiple times before. What was the source of their photo 'library'?First In Line wrote:To me, this is my favorite magazine. I wasn't going to share my opinion simply because I know alot of people swear by TMATM. Re: The best Elvis magazines?
Here are a few quality magazines from around the world over the decades;
This is "Elvis a legendary performer" mag, issue no. 2 from 1979. This was published in Norway and the ones I have are all written in English!!! Does anyone know how long this mag lasted?
A very renowned mag, published in Michigan. This is the December '69 issue.
And this one is the Fan Club magazine of Sweden. This edition is from Dec 2001. Very nicely laid out with plenty of colour throughout.

Re: The best Elvis magazines?
This is a very nice mag from Germany. It is printed on glossy paper and contains very detailed reviews of the latest FTD-CDs, articles about certain events (the "Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite" special will be featured in the next issue) and many other things. GOLDEN BOY ELVIS (named after a famous German Elvis-record) is published quarterly by Helmut Radermacher, who also wrote "Das Grosse Elvis Presley Filmbuch", a 600 page book about the King's movies.

Re: The best Elvis magazines?
This is GRACELAND, published every two month by the German ELVIS PRESLEY GESELLSCHAFT. It also features the latest FTDs and articles on several topics, but it's much less critical and detailed then GOLDEN BOY ELVIS. But nevertheless it looks fine and is professionally made.

Re: The best Elvis magazines?
That is why i dislike 90% of the so called Elvis 'fan's who try to make a buck on Elvis when it comes to his merchandise from way back
Do you really need to make money out of everything? is that the sole purpose in life to make money instead of givin' it for free just
because you like the person and personal friendship beats money minded greed and attitude...
I gave a few years ago away 90% of all my cassettes, albums,cd´s,magazines to another Elvis fan who was a friend over 30 years.
Simply because i wanted it, he could use it, and his Elvis collection became bigger after that. One thing he had to sign for was a legal
paper saying that he would not sell the stuff i gave him unless he became broke and lost his job. He signed it and still has all the
stuff i gave him way back.

This Norwegian Magazine is awesome, almost the same size as the FILES mags but picture quality/paper is MUCH better.
This low resolution sample dont do the magazine any justice
