To Sony, any chart placement would be a bonus. Their motive is profit, and they wouldn't be releasing this product if their research hadn't indicated that there will be such.

It seems odd that the forum is even debating whether Sony is releasing something for financial reasons. The last I heard, they were not a charity.

Maybe not but they were selling Viva Elvis for charity shop prices.

Presumably they have leftover stock they didn't get rid of. A bad decision doesn't mean they are not out to make a profit.

Viva Elvis doesn't qualify as Elvis' music... they can't price that trash low enough...

Hi all, I have a question for the experts on here,

I've heard that Al Jackson jr. and Donald Dunn got in on a couple of the Stax tracks. - Does anyone know which ones?

Thanks,
Andy ::rocks

That album may not be the best or liked by some life long fans, but it's still an Elvis Presley album and always will be seen as one. I for one, thought it was poorly produced with the exception of a few tracks. I thought it was creative though at how they took bits and pieces from other songs to incorporate them into a single song, like Beatles Love was done.

I have heard that Jackson played only on Sweet Angeline but wasn't interested on playing on Three Corn Patches. Dunn definitely played on the July sessions.

Spanish Eyes and Three Corn Patches?! I guess Spanish Eyes is there because it's a well-known song that will appeal to average easy-listening-type punters. But three corn patches?.

But no Honky Tonk Angel? I think there must be an aversion to that song - it wasn't on the 70s masters either!

Lord have mercy, I would have put :

"Just A Little Bit"
"If You Don't Come Back" (rough mix)

in place of ""Three Corn Patches" and "My Boy".

I will be getting the "Deluxe Edition".

I'm okay with Spanish Eyes being included, but I shake my head in disbelief at the inclusion of Three Corn Patches.

From what I heard, it will be the same masters used for the TCM box.

Don't expect a better sound quality on the outtakes than on the FTD's (rather the opposite  )...
If you're lucky, they'll sound the same.

How do you mean? Surely the outtakes will sound even better DSD'd.
