Roustabout No.2 from Otis Blackwell

Fri May 09, 2003 9:15 pm

Ernst Jorgensen told us in interviews that Roustabout No.1 is not planned for "2nd to none". That means they have the song!

But why the hell nobody asked him how the song sounds?

Think of it: This is a completely another song as Roustabout from the movie. It is an Otis Blackwell song. Return to sender, All shook up is also
from Otis. So I guess, that Roustabout No.2 is a good rhythm tune.

I hope they will release it on a new FTD soundtrack. It would be great to have the roustabout soundtrack with many new songs.

This version fits the best on this soundtrack. But they probably will save it for another box set.

Are there different lyrics to this version or just different arrangment?

Well if it is by Blackwell and Scott, the the lyrics must be totally different. Why else would different writers compose the same song.

I wonder if the Blackwell/Scott version was ever registered for a copyright with either BMI or ASCAP. This might give us a hint as to the lyrics and running time.

Roustabout (Blackwell version) is NOT registered by ASCAP or BMI under that name or similar.

Ernst did NOT say they have it... he did say that it is not on Close Up.
