Tough question. I would have been thrilled to have witnessed any of them. I would take the Sun sessions and also be happy to have a seat in the corner of the Jungle Room. I'm easy to please.

However, if by the luck of the draw I got stuck with the 1977 Nashville sessions, I'd be pissed.

An very interesting question.

I guess for me it would be May 1966 when Elvis was recording material for the "How Great Thou Art" album.

Why would anyone choose anything but the Sun sessions? There are many reasons, first they are among the most historic in music history. Second, they were simple, few people or honchos around except for the musicians and Phillips and Elvis wasn't into getting high yet. Jungle Room? Really? No way would I want to see Elvis in that shape if I had a choice. They are depressing enough to listen to and probably more so to witness.

While some may not be able to understand why anyone would choose anything but Elvis Begins, I've always been more of an Elvis Returns kinda guy if I had to choose.

I'd choose June 23, 1968, to witness the studio recording of "If I Can Dream." I'd almost be afraid to be in there, though. I wouldn't want accidentally to change history and somehow disrupt his masterpiece.

That being said, I'd also try to stick around the rest of the month as well to watch him get back on the track.

The sessions at Sun between December 1954 and February 1955. I'd like to know more about the creative process that led up to "Milkcow Blues Boogie" and "You're A Heartbreaker". What other songs did Elvis and the boys try out along the way? Very little tape survived from that era.

And, while I was in the neighborhood, I would have liked to visit Sam's house when they had birthday cake for Elvis on January 8th. I bet it was a heck of a party!

There, of course, are several classic moments: "Mystery Train" "If I Can Dream" "My Happiness " "Long Black Limo" . . .

But, out of sheer curiosity, January '68. Weird session, you must admit.

For you that's a remarkable choice since we all know you value some other sessions higher in regard. Why this one?

Ah, I thought he would react seriously on a thread (that is not his own) for once.
