I was giving CD1 of the CM SET a spin and got to I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone (slow version), man i forgot how good that is, got me thinking i wish he had done more slower alternates, Hound Dog perhaps like ETTA JAMES's version ?
Also loved how Milkcow Blues Boogie was sounding before he got real gone, which other hits would u have loved a slower version of ?

Etta James' version of "Hound Dog," cut about 12 years ago, moves the tempo to a more bluesy place, and definitely draws upon Big Mama Thornton's original in her vocal.
It's great, though, and it's a shame Elvis didn't give an arrangement like this a shot in the '70s instead of running through it in 54 seconds. Imagine if Tony Joe White had helped out Elvis with such ideas.Etta James, "Hound Dog" Matriarch of the Blues (Private Music/BMG 8205, December 16, 2000)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matriarch_of_the_Blues
We lost Etta just a year ago. May she R.I.P.
