I included a really cool clip from you tube, that I'm sure everyone has seen. I've never heard the opening show before, it sure is an electrifying experience!!!!!

Why, though, do you have a picture of John Lennon and Yoko Ono from the March 1, 1975 Grammy Awards in your selection of photos? What does it have to do with Elvis at MSG on June 9, 1972?

With all of the talk of what John Lennon thought of Elvis post army, and this being one of the many incredible Elvis moment's post army, I thought that it would be apropos and cool to show John wearing Elvis' button at MSG, and now I apologize for my brain cramp, realizing that of course that isn't John Lennon at Elvis' show!!! I was in the midst of looking for pic's etc. pertaining to Elvis' opening at the Garden and.....

You're welcome and thank's a lot for your responses!! The crowd reaction really is amazing, and the atmosphere in the crowd, well you can almost feel like you are there witnessing the greatest and most electrifying entertainer ever, and like you both say, what an incredible show!!!!!

Concert: First release on silver disc. For me, it`s the audience recording of the year. Good sound, fantastic show, great layout. Now we have all four MSG shows on pressed CD`s. Highly recommendable !!! (Ciscoking)- I just saw your name Ciscoking, and I hope that you don't mind my posting this.

The "ELVIS" pin John wore at the 1975 Grammys was just another public display of a true fan. Lennon also played MSG in 1972, about ten weeks after Elvis' shows, and gave his #1 hero a shout-out. During an encore performance of "Hound Dog" John actually says, mid-song, "Elvis, I love ya."

It is not insignificant that the leader of the greatest band in the history of rock 'n' roll stood on the Madison Square Garden stage weeks after Elvis had been there, covered "Hound Dog" and yelled "Elvis, I love ya" while singing it.

For the record, John Lennon did not see Elvis at Madison Square Garden in 1972, and never saw him perform in concert.

According to a later interview, his description of Elvis implies they chatted before the first MSG gig:

I met him later at Madison Square Garden—it must have been in 1972, something like that. And at that time, I had my uniform; the worn-out denim jacket and jeans—looked like a rag-man—and I had a big beard and mustache, and long hair down to my waist. They took me back in the intermission to meet Elvis again and he was in the back of the dressing room—the big rooms with the showers for the footballers and stuff—and I was in the front part just talking to some of the guys. And I’m sitting there, thinking "Well, where’s Elvis, then?"

And finally he came out of the back and he was... immaculate. I felt like this real grubby little slug and he looked like Lord Siva or something. He seemed to be about eight feet tall and his hair was black and his tan was perfect and he had this big white suit, a gold belt about four feet wide and he was towering above me and I just put a hand out (cowers) and said "Hello, Elvis, how are you?"—just cowering like this little rag-man.
