NEW Straight Arrow: Hot Love In A Long, Cold Winter

Out shortly is the new Straight Arrow release “Hot Love In A Long, Cold Winter”, which contains the St. Petersburg and Columbia 1977 concerts from newly obtained original audience recorded cassettes which both have surprisingly good sound. The Elvis tour in February of that year was affected in various ways by the weather conditions, which sometimes resulted in delays at airports and illness among the musicians and crew members. Presley himself was in less than stellar condition, and complained of a sore throat on some nights. Elvis gained some weight since the last tour, and the manic feel of those final December nights was now gone, but from February 14, he was in good voice for all remaining shows of his tour, and he even included rarities like ‘Release Me’ and ‘Blueberry Hill’.

A large chunk of the February 14 show and 2 tracks from February 18 were released from a soundboard sources, but we feel that these audience recorded tapes makes for a more entertaining and exciting listening experience. Note: The February 18, 1977 show was released in 1992 („ELVIS RELEASE ME IN CONCERT“) by the Peaf label, which was taken from an inferior source. Here's a title for SA when they release the next show that has Priscilla in the audience:"Two Piss Holes In the Snow", produced by Colonel Bealieu.

Catchy title, but I have one better...... "Nature Calls, The Poop Falls".

The concert from February 14 we only had on an incomplete SB before..so debut here in full length on silver disc in great audiene recorded sound. This alone makes it worthwhile for collectors. The other show we already had but not in this good sound. Both shows spring from a good tour and are worthwhile getting..when you know what to expect from a good show from 1977...it`s not top notch like 1970..we all know of course...

Exactly the sound quality and COMPLETENESS will 'satisfy' all fans.The performance.... well it ain't June 9th 72' this time~!
still their are MORE Quality releases to come from SA this year and this is the start of the 2013 batch.....obviously i collect em' all!~

The title is obviously inspired by "Winter in a Long Hot Summer" which was a title for an album that, of course, never was released -- or recorded, for that matter. It was supposed to feature material from 1967-1968. I think this rumour circulated in the late '60s...I can't remember the details exactly. Either way, "Hot Love in a Long, Cold Winter" is a weird title, especially for a 1977 show.

We already had a big part of the Feb. 14 1977 show on Madison's Cajun Tornado as a soundboard recording, so I do not need this as an audience recording at all, even if it is complete or almost complete.

And for the Feb. 18 show shortly there will be a single (re)release by TDP. We already had this one about 20 years ago on the PEAF label, but in not very good sound quality, so I'm sure that Touchdown will have a better source now and that's enough for me, so I'm definitely not going to buy another (unnecessary) Straight Arrow double release this time.

I took it from the book "Elvis & Me" when Priscilla describes her Dad's comments after seeing her balling upon her return from the states after her first visit in '62 (or whenever) when she had mascara running down her cheeks as she alighted the plane.

touchdown isnt really better then straight arrow, Straight Arrow is a safe buy, with Touchdown its always just hoping its better.

i agree, Elvis gave a pretty good performance on February 12 1977, while looking way overweight, but seen on footage elvis was enjoying his show alot, His guitar strip broke during the end of see see rider so elvis put his guitar in the air, then performed i got a woman-amen without a guitar.
