Snoopin´ Round My Door (1955 – 1977)cd_snoopin.jpg
In the Import new section, Great title good looking cover, unfortunately it ends there, nothing like flogging a dead horse, a complete waist of 3 discs of material ranging from perfect sound to poor audience recordings.
Just a shame it wasn’t a single CD release of some newly discovered recordings/outtakes from 56. In the fashion of the CD
Totally Stung from Madison.

Even the great title and good looking cover bit is a little exaggerated, isn't it?

No not at all the title would be great for a Bootleg “Snoopin’ Around My Door” i.e RCA back door into the vaults borrowing a few unreleased out takes.
The title would suit perfect, although in this case with what’s on offer here, the title could just as well be bits and pieces.
But I was excited for a few seconds when I saw the title and cover, as I thought great some new 56 material, I never thought of out-takes of Hound Dog, but just the thought of some new out-takes from that time frame, would be something but not to be.

Obviously in the same vein as that Sun set they did. I didn't get that one either. If it can't flow like a collection that has unity, cohesion, and takes you somewhere, then what's the point?

Although some of the negative comments here are driven by personal agendas, not having actually listened to the release, I must admit I find the concept of these releases hard to follow. There are far too many tracks interlaced in a manner that seems to imply continuity, but ultimately sounds chaotic.
Sometimes, less is more.
That said, maybe folks should hold their knives until it's available for review.

I really enjoyed the 'Elvis is back' and 'Sun' one they did, may get this also but not sure yet.

I agree
And as already stated here at FECC
drjohncarpenter:live 1950s material is best found here on Elvis: A Golden Celebration (RCA , 1998)

Seems to me that Victrola did a great job with the "Our Memories" CDs, but them lost it. Sun is a strange set to listen to, and this one seems to be in a lot like it. I don't know about the "unreleased" tracks. If they are full versions and not one-liners, then I'll buy. There are of lot of new CDs out there, and this doesn't seem to be one of the greatest. A three CD set with (less than) a handful of unreleased material... Ka-ching!

You
misquote my original statement. That is
not the primary box set to get for Elvis live in the 1950s.
Please do not do this again.
Here is my original post:

Hound Dog The box also has the May 6, 1956 (Las Vegas) and the May 16, 1956 (Little Rock) concerts.
After this, live 1950s material is best found here on
Elvis: A Golden Celebration (RCA , 1998). It has audio from all the live TV appearances (Stage Show, Berle, Allen, Sullivan), and the September 26, 1956 Tupelo Benefit Shows. The Tupelo DVD above is worth having for the video, but the concert audio is 100% sourced from
Elvis: A Golden Celebration.

I apologise doc if you have misunderstood what I was trying to get across, but the point I was trying to make is as follows.
Any live 1950's material included on this 'bootleg' is available 'officially' on the Sony labels elsewhere, Tupelo tracks (some of which are on this release) included .
You have made it very clear in the past that the official label is the place to go (in your opinion) .
This bootleg release will not be added to my collection, it's a pointless excercise of a compilation that many bootleggers have accused the official labels of in the past. My how times have changed.
