Even the great title and good looking cover bit is a little exaggerated, isn't it?

Obviously in the same vein as that Sun set they did. I didn't get that one either. If it can't flow like a collection that has unity, cohesion, and takes you somewhere, then what's the point?

Although some of the negative comments here are driven by personal agendas, not having actually listened to the release, I must admit I find the concept of these releases hard to follow. There are far too many tracks interlaced in a manner that seems to imply continuity, but ultimately sounds chaotic.

Sometimes, less is more.

That said, maybe folks should hold their knives until it's available for review.

I really enjoyed the 'Elvis is back' and 'Sun' one they did, may get this also but not sure yet.

Seems to me that Victrola did a great job with the "Our Memories" CDs, but them lost it. Sun is a strange set to listen to, and this one seems to be in a lot like it. I don't know about the "unreleased" tracks. If they are full versions and not one-liners, then I'll buy. There are of lot of new CDs out there, and this doesn't seem to be one of the greatest. A three CD set with (less than) a handful of unreleased material... Ka-ching!

And as already stated here at FECC
drjohncarpenter:live 1950s material is best found here on Elvis: A Golden Celebration (RCA , 1998)

:smt006  :D

You misquote my original statement. That is not the primary box set to get for Elvis live in the 1950s.

Please do not do this again.

Here is my original post:

The previously-unreleased concert in this set is from Shreveport in December.

Elvis Presley
"Louisiana Hayride" Benefit Show
Hirsch Youth Center, Shreveport, LA
Saturday, December 15, 1956

Heartbreak Hotel
Long Tall Sally
I Was The One
Love Me Tender
Don't Be Cruel
Love Me
I Got A Woman
When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again
Paralyzed
Hound Dog

The box also has the May 6, 1956 (Las Vegas) and the May 16, 1956 (Little Rock) concerts.

After this, live 1950s material is best found here on Elvis: A Golden Celebration (RCA , 1998). It has audio from all the live TV appearances (Stage Show, Berle, Allen, Sullivan), and the September 26, 1956 Tupelo Benefit Shows. The Tupelo DVD above is worth having for the video, but the concert audio is 100% sourced from Elvis: A Golden Celebration.
