October and December FTDs
It’s in Norwegian, but I’m pretty sure you can understand it anyway:

Re: October and December FTDs
Ok, I guess I understand Norwegien.
Elvis Presley blvd.
Back in Memphis
Vegas Aug. 12, 1972
Rehearsal from this time period. Not much is known about this.
All sounds good.
Now my guess is that for Feb. we will get:
GI blues volume 2
& From Elvis in Memphis
To complete those sessions.

Re: October and December FTDs
Nice to see Back In Memphis appearing, and I'm sure the rehearsal disc will also be welcomed. I'll pass on E P Boulevard, though. I can barely sit through the Jungle Room sessions, and that's quite a good representation of the material. At the end of two hours out Feb 76 outtakes, I think I'd want to slit my wrists!

Re: October and December FTDs
Am I reading correctly (I don't speak Norwegian) where in October, besides From Elvis Presley Blvd, we will also get Hits of the 1970s in album format and Elvis Country (Special Edition) on vinyl. The latter is something I am excited to see.

Thanks for the track listing, Ken and forgive the question, but... what's the point of releasing "The Hits of the '70s"?

Neither do I. It seems a bit odd, especially since it appears to be a classic album release.TCK_KING wrote:I just dont understand why "Hits of the 70s" is a FTD prodject.........with so many other possibilities.

Re: October and December FTDs
So unless I missed something obvious - and it wouldn't be the first time - Hits Of The 70s is the first FTD release with no previously unreleased material on it? Wouldn't this have been better off as a mainstream double disc?

Re: October and December FTDs
For one, if you have the Complete Masters set, you'll be able to get the single version of "My Way" released posthumously and not included on TCM. "My Way"'s B-side, "America" is on one of the bonus discs on that set. It'll be neat if they use mono/stereo single mixes for this release.hm80ep wrote:Thanks for the track listing, Ken and forgive the question, but... what's the point of releasing "The Hits of the '70s"?

Not this fan. The outtakes are much more chipper than the album portrays. I have all of the Venus releases representing these sessions and there were a few laugh-out-loud moments. I plan to enjoy these very much.poormadpeter wrote:At the end of two hours out Feb 76 outtakes, I think I'd want to slit my wrists!
But that's just the way I rock (even though I just can't roll).

Re: October and December FTDs
Hits of the 70s does seem odd, and as i said in a previous thread, because of how many people over here in the UK owned that LP an expanded mainstream release would probably do well. But for a collectors label there appears to be nothing collectable on it other than the occasional mono mix. Very odd.

But strangely, I want it. Always thought the cover was cool and the boot version, a major disappointment.poormadpeter wrote:Hits of the 70s does seem odd, and as i said in a previous thread, because of how many people over here in the UK owned that LP an expanded mainstream release would probably do well. Re: October and December FTDs
Thanks for the news, Ken. After all these years, I still get ridiculusly excited when I see FTD news on this site. I was hoping for some new, early material... like a new soundtrack release, anything to break the '70s vibe... but what we do get is good enough. I will definitely pick up "From EP Blvd" and "Back In Memphis". I will probably buy both vinyl releases, too. And needless to say, I can't wait to hear more about the rehearsal.

I'd like it too, I just think FTD is the wrong place.tupelo_boy wrote:But strangely, I want it. Always thought the cover was cool and the boot version, a major disappointment.poormadpeter wrote:Hits of the 70s does seem odd, and as i said in a previous thread, because of how many people over here in the UK owned that LP an expanded mainstream release would probably do well. But for a collectors label there appears to be nothing collectable on it other than the occasional mono mix. Very odd.
