Knoxville 1972, 1974 & 1977 film surfaces
While again looking for something else entirely, I came across this piece from an online newspaper:
.. (at 0.17)
Apparently there is 18 minutes of footage altogether, 6 minutes (2 reels) from each of the three Knoxville shows.
Never before seen Elvis video from Knoxville concerts I don't know about you but I always get a big kick out of something like this surfacing.
I can't recall having seen any amateur footage from these Knoxville shows. The sad part in the article is that "EPE has no interest in the film"...not that surprising, really.
Intrigued, I did some further searching, and came across a news report video, which actually showed clips from the 1972 and 1974 footage. And sure enough, it was all new to me. To me it looked to be in very nice quality too, for amateur footage. It was fun to see the "shake in the footlights" we see briefly in Elvis On Tour from another angle .. (at 0.17)

Sidenote..on March 15, 1974 Elvis gave NO Afternoon Show as written in many (if not all) books.
Thanks to Ernst Joergensen, Roger Semon and Erik Rasmussen for the great work. Keep the spirit alive !

Hmmm, footage from Knoxville in 77 ten months before Elvis death is what the narator says. Somehow the math just doesn't add up, LOL.

very interesting. I can understand why EPE is not interested. It doesn't look good enough.

It's great that you found something like this. With BMG now releasing Madison S Garden footage, it may be possible that Ernst and Roger could contact the owner and perhaps with some soundboard audio, create an audio-video FTD project that we could all enjoy.
Good detective work!!!

Great story and footage. Maybe cleaned up could be part of a deluxe ON TOUR package...
Have we got another PFAP scenario here?

Re: Knoxville 1972, 1974 & 1977 film surfaces
Ah, postage stamps and the National Enquirer.
Interesting that we don't see anything from 1977 in the news report. Did the fan not screen any, or did the news station omit it? The quality is not great, and the segments from each show may only last 5-10 minutes.
There are no doubt hundreds of fans with such "private" movie archives, and some is probably very good or better quality. But it seems unlikely any official agency will ever gather these up for some kind of official DVD/Blu-ray project. The market for these is too small. It would cost too much money, and the profit margin would likely be too low.

Yes, noticed that too.
Don't know if the location was still under debate (Knoxville or Indianapolis) but now we know 100% sure..
This piece makes you realize there must be tons of unreleased fan material "out there"..

Re: Knoxville 1972, 1974 & 1977 film surfaces
Actually i thought i did see 77' footage, but it seemed poorest of the 3. 74 and 72 footage CLEARLY showed the suits he was wearing at these shows.Yes a bootleg of the footage would be 'good' Also what about a bootleg of the Knoxville 72 A/S audio we had a part of a while ago??

In "Elvis On Tour" there is a few seconds of Elvis arriving on stage in Knoxville. This can be seen just before "I Got A Woman/ Amen". He does a leg shake type of thing. It can also be seen in this home movie footage filmed from the front.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
