Unchained Melody does not showcase a "stronger" voice. There are all sorts of pitch issues, breathing issues, and control issues. You must be one of those guys that confuses bellowing with strength.

In 1976 and 1977 Elvis included only one or two demanding songs per concert on the set list and on some occasions like in Madison, Wisconsin (June 23rd) even that was not even the case. When he performed songs like My Way, Unchained Melody, How Great Thou Art and Hurt he suffered from breathing issues and a thin voice. Listen to Amarillo 1977, Stumpin' Madison or Spring Tours 1977. Most songs are light years away from his abilities. The respected author Peter Guralnick called Elvis' 1977 performances of Unchained Melody grotesque and I tent to agree with that. It is a myth that Elvis voice was stronger than ever. One can only say that Elvis compensated with some of his last energy but that's about it.
