For the "Elvis" album I prefer the Friday Music vinyl relese mastered by Kevin Gray. But yes, I do prefer Kevan Budds mastering better than Vic Anesini as I find Anesini's versions too bright sounding, especially on the 56' songs. The New York recordings is already on the bright side so no need to add so much treble as Anesini has done. Just my opinion of course

I agree totally, so I must get the Friday Music 'Elvis' as I seem to share your '56 sound quality opinions

What is it about that CD? I've heard this time and time again.

Is it a CDR? Longterm boot collectors must copy/backup your CDR boots, some CDRs, especially recent ones decay/rot invisibly after a MONTH. Believe me, I used them for years in my job. Some last for ages, but they're the costlier ones such as JVC Made in Japan, which I doubt bootleggers can or want to source. You cannot even necessarily rely on previous trade names, eg TDK is no longer the company we remember, the name is just used on mass-produced in India discs which personally I had terrible trouble with.

There may be some that won't get played until I retire. Leisure time is too short for this working Joe.

But I'll probably not be too bothered if I never hear many of the '76/'77 soundboards again.
