Which Elvis CD's will you NEVER PLAY AGAIN ?
I'm borrowing the title from rickeap
I have no desire to listen and play again NEW HAVEN '76 and TUSCON '76 from the FTD series. I can't imagine listening to many songs off 1975-76 and 1977 soundboards anymore.
The Essential Elvis series still does get a spin in my household, along with COLLECTORS GOLD. The Bilko, Baxter and Madison boots likewise. The Diamond Anniversary still has their moments (particularly MEMPHIS June 10 1975) but can't stand their reverb these days.
THE BMG Double Features series; a couple are still relevant such as the Roustabout/Viva Las Vegas and Live a Little, Love a Little/ Stay Away Joe/Trouble with Girls/Change of Habit.

None. I am an Elvis fan and will play them all again eventually -- good or bad.
But that's just the way I am.

Re: Which Elvis CD's will you NEVER PLAY AGAIN ?
I don't recall the naming, but when CDs first started appearing, in the mid-80s, they came out with a series on Elvis. Can't remember what they called it. Light-color packaging . . . I would have to take a pic. There were about 4 of 'em. I haven't listened to them in AGES. And never plan to again.
If they were worth anything, I'd take 'em along with that Mick Jagger solo album from that time, and sell it. But they're not worth anything, I think. (It all came with the purchase of my first CD player, which was a present. Which is how I ended up with the Jagger solo album.)

Come's to think of it WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES - THE ESSENTIAL SEVENTIES MASTERS won't be getting a spin anymore. The FTD classic albums series has replaced it.

It's still a better release than a few others. I think this would be better thought of if it wasn't for the very strange mix (with the female singers so up front.) I like HGTA, America, Mountain, Now Or Never, and Funny How Time Slips Away.RonBaker2003 wrote:America....the sound is dreadful

You mean they have some value? Well, I'll be. I haven't listened to them since . . . a very long time.Matthew wrote:Someone correct me but don't those CDs have some original mono mixes on them?rjm wrote:Here's those records.

Re: Which Elvis CD's will you NEVER PLAY AGAIN ?
I have three different copies of some titles, so there a quite a few that I probably wont play due to the fact that the same music is available in much better quality on other releases.
If we are talking albums that aren't worth playing though, does anyone else remember "The Definitive" series. They actually edited the tracks so that they could fit more on to the CD's. Worthless!

Re: Which Elvis CD's will you NEVER PLAY AGAIN ?
I never again play any CD released so far.
Upon release I rip them to MP3 and play them on the computer or on the MP3-player when walking around town.
It is great fun to put the MP3-player on shuffle and be surprised what song will be next.

Re: Which Elvis CD's will you NEVER PLAY AGAIN ?
I don't own an MP3 player and don't want one. There are currently 6 people in residence at my home all sharing a PC and all working different hours. If my Elvis music was on the PC my access would be limited to say the least. There are Elvis cds I haven't played in quite some time, but off the top of my head I can't think of any I'd never play again.
Re: Which Elvis CD's will you NEVER PLAY AGAIN ?
I don't play ANY '76 or '77 concert era CD's, audience recorded or soundboards ever again - a total waste of time ...

A vast majority of them. Not by lack of interest, but lack of time.

Probably this one; the only time I thought I wasted money on an Elvis' CD:

MP3 on "shuffle" mode is a very good way to enjoy songs you wouldn't hear otherwise.

None for song reasons , just the older ones that have terrible sound quality I may never play if they have been upgraded.

Same for me. Many Elvis cd's (both official ones AND bootlegs) have been subjected to the 'slightly better quality than before', 'slightly more complete than before' and 'remastered yet again by someone new' ethics that confine many previous releases of the same material to the ever increasing landfill of Elvis cd's! But now many are wise to the marketing ploys and philosophies that are in force.
Re: Which Elvis CD's will you NEVER PLAY AGAIN ?
The Closing Night FTD--can't even remember if that is the correct title. I've played it twice--almost finished it the second time.
