Rihanna rules. She's made some brilliant songs.

Keith Richards, Jr.

The only one I know is a very repetitive song about an umbrella-ella-ella-ella etc. No doubt it has some sexual connotations.
I love that song. But no, she's not bigger than Elvis, I agree with that.

Rhianna upsets me to the extent that, while I enjoy many of her songs, most of her hits seem to deal with violence and sex in a way that disappoints...after her beating at the hands of Chris Brown she could have really stood up for women who suffered abuse and been the face of a cause, but she didn't really have it in her I guess. Then she released songs about "break my bones but chains and whips excite me" and the burning duet with eminem...it seems she is even taking advantage of the controversy. She could have been a real role model for strong women.

You're joking again, right?

Perish forbid the notion, on an Elvis Presley forum, of a pop singer whose sexuality is a component of their singing and performance.

Absurd. His success created the demand for a more streamlined look.

I am sure he topped sales and airplay charts {info appreciated}, so what he heck' the difference!

That's what he gets for creating contemporary music as we kow it at a very early age!

By the time they were carting him off to the Czek {sp?} border,THEN they counted him?

I don't think this really matters.

To me Elvis still has 18 number ones , 38 top ten's and 114 top 40 hits and i'm sure to most other people that follows this stuff he does as well.

I Just don't think people really care or take Billboard seriously anymore.

Hell even a year from now Billboard will change it's rules and be saying something completely different.
Whatever suits their agenda at the time.

Technically there is nothing to prevent Billboard doing this if the statistics are solely based on the Billboard chart. However, they should have at least placed a caveat in there along the lines of when the statistics where counted from and how this would exclude the early success of the 20th Century's most successful artist, amongst other major acts who would also have been affected. What they have done in it's current form gives an inaccurate portait of music history.

Lets face reality, EP fans are becomeing less and less.
Its very good that he have lived 30+ after his death trough his music but soon he will only be the thing that comes up old in dusty history books.
Rihanna is a very good talented person and shes still young and so succesful.
In my eyes its only one artists legacy that will live on forever and that is Michael Jackson.
If Elvis had done a world tour then maybe the picture would have been change.
Elvis is onley huge in The States the rest of the world dont care, its very sad.

Jack Michaelson's legacy to outlive Elvis??????!!! WTF??? On the anniversary of Jack Michaelson's death there was hardly a whisper in the press or the news, and ,unlike Elvis, Jack Michaelson's 'sound' and style remained the same from the late 70's thru to his death. He was a good dancer I suppose and he liked children!!

What FACTS are you talking about??
Please tell me???

'Elvis is only huge in the States' ?? - Nope! I even bet that his popularity is much higher outside the US ( the ELVIS IN CONCERT video shows are mostly all sell outs in Europe)

'If Elvis had done a world tour then maybe the picture would have been change'- That's not a fact that's just your opinion, based on.....nothing. Like stated above the ELVIS IN CONCERT shows attracks lots of attention in every city it plays. It's not the same like seeing the King live on stage, but the feeling comes pretty close.

'In my eyes its only one artists legacy that will live on forever and that is Michael Jackson' - Based on what??? Let's wait for another 30 years or so and see how popular Wacko still is. Only THEN you can state it as a fact.

But...wait.... i will help you with one TRUE FACT ( and i give it for free):
Elvis Presley is still very much in the news, even almost 35 years after his death. He is just everywhere. Maybe not in the charts anymore, but he became an icon like Coca Cola, The Beatles or Mickey Mouse. If work every day on a school with teenagers and they all know his name.
THAT'S a F A C T

and now please don't make a fool of yourself anymore on this board.

No, what is sad is your ignorance of facts.

Elvis Presley sold 15 million albums worldwide between 2005-2009. In this same time-period, Elvis' sales in the US were 6.5 million according to SoundScan. Thus, US only accounted for approximately 43,33% of Elvis' total album sales. How do you explain that? If "the rest of the world don't care"?

Elvis has been in the world's conscious for 55 years, at it's highest level. That's why ignorance doesn't bother me anymore like in year's past, whether it'd be BIllboard, or a poster on a forum.

You're no Rihanna expert, that is clear, and you miss the point, that is no surprise.

Just for fun, here are just a few well-known (to most fans) examples to add to your recall:
Meet me in a hurry, behind the barn
Don't you be afraid, darling, I'll do you no harm
- "Good Rockin' Tonight" (1954)

I'd rather see you dead, little girl
Than to be with another man
- "Baby Let's Play House" (1955)

Hang up your pretty stockings, turn out the light
'Cause Santa Claus is coming down your chimney tonight
- "Santa Claus Is Back In Town" (1957)

That's when I'll drag you home with me, girl
I'm gonna chain you to the wall
- "Dirty Dirty Feeling" (1960)
