Anyone know for sure the year on this
Opening states 74 Or is it splices from 74 - 75 ?

If it's the soundboard recording I am familiar with (my sound card at the office is buggered) then it dates from March 1975 and the Las Vegas Hilton.

Not really an outtake but an enjoyable and rare performance of a great Bobby Darin hit.

The tape is a bit slowed down: Elvis asks for a C but what we hear is a B - the same goes for when he calls for a D, we hear a C# instead etc. So the song was slightly faster and higher when was performed, compared to what we hear now.

Which outtakes/alternate takes do you consider better than the released master ?

I could think of some, like the solo version of "Lonely Man", for instance.

I would be interested to compile such a compilation for friends.

the first example that comes to my mind is "Long Tall Sally" – to me the original 1956 version is not that good – vocals and arrangements needed a different approach maybe.

I can relate more with the version from Feb 1970, I like the way Elvis sounds and how everything comes together with the band.
