alohababy.jpg is reversed, the Wolfman would be very upset about that.

And as we love, more bonus are for you while sharing this show. First, the hit singles of the day, and as there was no point in reprising "Steamroller Blues", we have choosen to give you and original radio broadcast of the then new single, from nothing less than the "WOlFMAN JACK RADIO SHOW", yes, here is a full rare clip of Mr. Robert Weston Smith, better known as "Wolfman Jack", a key figure in putting rock and roll in the radio map back in the 50's and early 60's, still rockin' in the 70's as the legendary gravelly-voiced Disc Jockey, presenting: A NEW ELVIS SONG, to you...

Wolfman worked in hit radio. The aircheck has him coming out of the Edgar Winter Group's single of "Frankenstein." After he finishes his back-announce, he introduces "Steamroller Blues."
The most likely time this happened was the week when both songs were in the Top 20 -->
Billboard - May 26, 1973
Notice Winter is at #1, and Presley at #19.
Edgar and Elvis shared the Top 20 the following week as well, June 2, 1973, with "Frankenstein" at #2 and "Steamroller Blues" making its peak chart appearance at #17.
Rock on, baby!

Wolfman's old shows are currently in syndication. He is on my Boston station late Saturday nights.

Re: Wolfman Jack introducing Steamroller Blues!!!!!
Wolfman's cameo appearance in 1973's "American Graffiti" was a great moment. After that, no DJ in the country could be seen as cooler. It's a shame he's no longer with us.elvisjock wrote:Wolfman's old shows are currently in syndication. He is on my Boston station late Saturday nights.

Re: Wolfman Jack introducing Steamroller Blues!!!!!
Doc,why are you being so rude and childish? If you would bother to scroll up and see my response to Elvisfan10,the section of the story that I posted, clearly, without saying 1973,states that the radio broadcast was indeed from 1973!!! And as far as me not appreciating your efforts, well again your going all ape sh*t for nothing,as I very nicely thank you for your efforts in posting the billboard chart etc.!!drjohncarpenter wrote:Yes. Re: Wolfman Jack introducing Steamroller Blues!!!!!
I went to a Rock n Roll show many full moons ago and was standing in line to meet and greet the Wolfman . I was still able to walk then but used fore arm crutches. I was standing for quite a while and Wolfman saw me and told a guard to get me a chair and bring me up frount where he was sitting at a table. I sat there for over an hour talking to him in between other fans asking him questions. After he stopped signing he sat with me for maybe 30 minutes more. we talked about his friend Elvis. He told me how Elvis called him late one night and asked him if he would meet up with him . Wolfman said he was already in trouble with his wife so decided there would be other late nights so he passed. He never saw his friend again. He said it still bothers him.
