Ok, I thought it was just me! I've seen normal LPs from this seller sometimes get 100-200 dollars. I would put up the same LP , better condition, and MAYBE get 25.00. BTW, that Do The Clam sleeve no matter how scarce that 'ASK FOR' is, is no where near worth that kind of money. Only if it had an original autograph, maybe. No Elvis sleeves are worth over 1000.00 anymore the exception being, maybe, the sleeves for last 2 Compact 33 singles, in MINT shape.

Occasional items sell for good prices, but the majority of the items do not even get a bid! That's not collectable.
If I offer for sale x items by Elvis, x items by The Beatles, x items by Bob Dylan, I usually get bids for all items except for the Elvis ones. Even at € 0,99 each!

I list a lot on Ebay. Elvis items sell but not for very good prices unless the item is super rare. New items don't do well at all. I can list mono Beatles Captiol US albums and always get a decent price. They do more business on Ebay (for me) than any other artist as far as music people go. Not sure but maybe MJ or Madonna sell, I just don't have anything by them to list.

I think even with this nice record, your collection will never ever be complete.

I don't think anyone can have a 100% complete collection. There will always be the oddball piece. As long as you have all the legit releases, 45s, 78s, EPs & LPs in their original 1st pressings, that is something to be proud of and is complete by many folks standards. A record such as the Paramount Presents is not really 'real' meaning that is was never available to the public and could not be bought. I don't have it, but still feel I have a complete collection of Elvis records.

I own two, (2), original copies of 1958's, "Elvis' Golden Records" and a 1959, "A Date With Elvis" in glorious Mono, and these albums are close to Mint.

I once showed these to this collector in Greensboro, N.C. and he offered me $1,000.00 and I declined.

I was certain these records were going to be worth a fortune and as time has gone by, I soon learned that 45rpm records/ 33 1/3 Lp albums are only worth what someone is "willing to pay for them, that's the reality.

If someone is "willing" to pay more for a "Beatles" album, then it's worth it for them, not me.

Not sure what these Elvis Presley Albums are worth today, I really don't care anymore, they'll be with me until I sh*t the bed.

You can't come to the conclusion that EP is no longer collectible only because you sold only one magazine. Hell, there are probably hundreds of those magazines still around among hardcore fans! We're talking collectibles here!!!

Had the same experience with other Elvis items like singles, LP's, 8-tracks, books.
If an artist is collectable, all items by such an artist should sell easily.
So Elvis is NOT collectable.

I sold all Beatles items, though! They are collectable!

Re: Elvis is no longer collectable?. You must be kidding!.

Certain items by any number of artists can raise high prices - particularly autographs. But that doesn't mean that everything by them is collectable, and very little by Elvis is collectable these days - especially when we look at his records over the years. But I'm not quite sure what that is meant to tell us? I would say for the same about Sinatra - hardly the most collectable of artists. But collectability says zilch about how great or not the artist's recordings are.

The father of a friend of mine told me, once he found out I love Elvis, he had something very special for me. He used to collect EP stuff back in the 70s and 80s. Next time I met him he took me to his car, opened the trunk and it was filled with cassettes...All very rare EP live shows, he told me. And sure: lots of Vegas shows, and tour shows. He was convinced he had the holy grail! I just could not get myself to tell him that it all had been released on CD (this happened about 3 years ago) and I just said I didn't want it because I didn't own a cassette player anymore.

Point I'm trying to make is that you can discuss about what is collectible. Certainly not LP's or cassettes or old magazines, imo. When I'm talking about collectibles I mean the more rarer stuff, one of a kind items, like you find at auctions for example....

As mentioned before these types of items are still valuable collectibles, however I think the audience for them shrinks a bit each year. Rare EPE 50's items, SUNs and hard to find RCA promo records & items as you pictured here still get good money. Most 45s with sleeves and LPs with bonus photos and stickers have lost a lot of their value in the last 10 years except a mono Speedway. Anything produced after 1977, including the FTDs will not hold their value. Only hardcore Elvis fans care enough about having post 1977 items. I've seen many FTDs not selling on ebay for even 14.99.

Products like these make it very clear why the Stones, Beatles, Dylan and others will always be taken more seriously by music critics and most general fans. And I have seen worse, like an electric guitar shaped clock with a shiny Aloha photo as its base. Lets not forget the boxcar 1977 garbage can. Simply horrific.

Thanks for answering with a sence of good humour. My post was not meant offensive although I truely have problems understanding why some fans actually collect trashy souvenir stuff like this. I guess your sence of humour is better than your sence of taste then...

Thanks for the invitation BTW... If you have a great record collection I am happy to drop by. To see this clock in its full ugglyness, no thanks. :D
