The cardboard pockets -- in my opinion -- are not a serious issue for a set of this sort, not in this day and age.
I just do not believe people should be listening to discs from a $750 set day to day ... That's me, some will disagree.
Whether folks choose to put them in jewel cases or return them to the sleeves for safekeeping, the reality in my opinion is that this box should be treated like computer CD-ROMs ... You download the software somewhere else for daily use; you don't keep using the program discs.
Yes, 20 years ago before we could transfer the music easily and safely, hell, I'd be afraid to even OWN these discs. But now, I feel I can archive this set very well. As I've stated in another thread, I changed my mind today and slipped the discs back into the cardboard sleeves. If all goes according to plan, I don't expect to remove them again.
My heirs can decide what to do with the discs themsleves when they inherit them
