After the Closing Show of the January/February 1970 engagement this one was hard to take. If he dad not been a legend at this time, he surely would have been fired. :(

He dad was well known, but I'd never call Vernon a legend.

How's the sound on this one compared to the original 2001 release?

It is indeed an upgrade. Get this and you'll never listen to your old one again.

Have I ever lied to you?

I keep returning to Houston 8-28-1976 ...

The sound is really great, the show is extra-long, and the crowd is going wild!

Really good show. I love the setlists he was doing at this time. Elvis had added a bunch of new songs and made "The Impossible Dream" his new closing number for this engagement. Elvis introduces himself as BB King, and after singing "I Got A woman" he sings "By The Time I Get to Phoenix she'll be pregnant". He also repeats the "It feels like Bob Dylan has slept in my mouth" joke. The highlights are "Polk Salad Annie", "How Great Thou Art", "Something", "Little Sister/Get Back", "Its Now Or Never", "The Impossible Dream" The only on knock on it really is that he shortens "You've Lost That Lovin Feelin". he leaves out the "I get down on my knees for you" part of the song and he leaves out "Suspicious Minds".

That's Alright Mama

Because the shows were just one day apart, the set list is basically the same. During the first part of the show Elvis focuses on the oldies and delivers them in an entertaining, but very sloppy way. The only worthwhile performances are IF YOU LOVE ME (LET ME KNOW) and BURNING LOVE. The second half of the show is better, especially MYSTERY TRAIN / TIGER MAN , T-R-O-U-B-L-E and LET ME BE THERE are performed well. In total this release is not essential, but it offers two entertaining shows in good enough sound.

It's not a complete concert, but a very nice live-sampler. If you listen to this, you burn all that 1970s sh*t.

i was just going by the description it had where i listened to. they must of thought it was a dinner show because at one point in the show Elvis mentions that he had just woken up. and he usually said that at dinner shows.
