Re: Last Elvis Concert You Listened To Was?
Yesterday, I listened to Desert Storm -I skipped the monologues though. No need to hear that over and over.
We all know the background story of this show, but you can't say that it isn't an interesting performance. I just want to say something brief about the songs. Yes, he is bored on a hurried Hound Dog, and yes, the atmosphere of the concert is weird, but he does put (raw) emotion in several songs and delivers some unique renditions. E.g. 'You gave me mountain' (with the spoken part) and 'It's midnight' (with 'Listen Cilla') are very dark, even frightening, very committed in expressing desolation. I enjoyed 'Big Boss Man', 'If you talk in your sleep', 'Softly as I leave you' and 'Until it's time for you to go' also. I'm not saying that the renditions of all aforementioned songs are excellent, but you can't say they're boring. So, worth to have a listen.
Best.

I like it even better than the evening show MSG - though I must add that I haven't heard the edition of PFAP yet. Still have to buy a copy. I will read the thread on it.SteamrollerBlues wrote:Continued my 1972 kick this morning and listened to An Afternoon In The Garden. Excellent show.

I've been listening to most of the '69 shows released on FTD and BMG. Each and every one of them is a joy to listen to. Elvis is on fire!

Life is messy
I feel like Elvis Presley
At a very early age
They put you in a cage
And they push you out on stage

21st August 1969 midnight show, as found on disc 2 of Viva Las Vegas - great show and the mix and mastering sounded good.

Re: Last Elvis Concert You Listened To Was?
Elvis' voice is not as good as it was a few years earlier, but he still sings quite well and puts more effort into the songs than during many other shows. In total the concert is quite entertaining.

From memory this is a hybrid show with the first part taken from an FTD of the same time.goldbelt wrote:21st August 1969 midnight show, as found on disc 2 of Viva Las Vegas - great show and the mix and mastering sounded good.

Re: Last Elvis Concert You Listened To Was?
In 1979 Elvis did not move too much. I think his singing was too soft, too. Almost inaudible...

New Haven '76 released by FTD. In my (our?) opinion the show is one big bunch of sh*t.
