Raised on Vegas looks like a really good show. Hope to be able to hear it one day. Anyway.....,
Just listened to the FTD release of "America." An interesting and enjoyable show. Trying to Get to You, Polk Salad Annie, How Great Thou Art, It's Now or Never, and Hurt are stand-outs for me. "Hurt" sounds very much like the single release at that stage. I love Elvis' comments about the supposed marriage and his joking before Funny How Time Slips Away.

Re: Last Elvis Concert You Listened To Was?
After finishing up mowing three acres yesterday, I was enjoying a peaceful evening on the front porch admiring my yard work. As I enjoyed a cold beer, I grabbed my Ipod and decided to listen to the legacy issue of Elvis' 1974 Memphis recording. I have got to admit this is a helluva show, and mix on this one is superb. The tambourines, as well as the placement of Wilkinson in the mix is much more evident than on most live releases. I've also got to admit the Bardwell's bass is spot-on in this show. Makes me wonder what the hell he did to piss Elvis off so bad that he had his parts stripped from the March '75 recordings.

I listened to Blazing into the darkness ( August 12 dinner show 1972, wrongly dated as August 11 ds 1972 ) yesterday. It is a good show. Better than most of the other shows I heard from this season.
Re: Last Elvis Concert You Listened To Was?
the concert I listened to yesterday was the old boot "Changin Pants", Sound is not good, but the Show is interesting.

I'm a little late, but last week I listened to the huntsville shows, because of the Huntsville 40 years ago topic.

August 11, 1970, Dinner Show (I'm groovin' to "Suspicious Minds" as I write this!), Disc 3 of the TTWII Deluxe Box Set!
It's not the best show (or even the second or third best) of the ones featured on this set, but especially for a dinner show, it does have some great, soulful moments (such as "I Can't Stop Lovin' You" and "Polk Salad Annie" and "Suspicious!")

Re: Last Elvis Concert You Listened To Was?
This one features Elvis in fine voice and good mood. In contrast to other shows of that period the King is awake and ready to entertain the crowd. Even though he makes some mistakes (forgets the lyrics to AMERICA or starts off MYSTERY TRAIN with the wrong verse) this is one of the better shows of 1976. I enjoyed it.

Listening to this one right now,I'm up to You've Lost That Loving Feeling, very enjoyable so far and the sound is fantastic.Rick Rennie did a super job recording this one for sure,a nicely balanced sound, all the instruments are clear and Elvis sounds fantastic.I know some here don't dig audience recordings but when they sound this good they really are missing out.Ciscoking wrote:I just listened to the first show here....Straight Arrow fantastico !!

Re: Last Elvis Concert You Listened To Was?
This is not one of Elvis' best concerts, but not the worst one either. The selection of songs is good and the sound of the recording is ok, too. It's another night's work, but still far ahead of the King's best performances of 1975-1977.

Cisco and all -
It must be a day to listen to this one. I agree it's a great show and the sound is amazing for an AR. Even with all the shows that we have from this stand on multi-track, there is something magical about these Rick Rennie AR's. Thank you SA for bringing these back to life.

I really want to hear these shows! Being born and raised in Alabama (although not too close to Huntsville) is an element here, I admit, but they seem to be very good latter-day shows, and I always love those!Ciscoking wrote:Huntsville 75 is GREAT !!!vinelvis wrote:I'm a little late, but last week I listened to the huntsville shows, because of the Huntsville 40 years ago topic.

Re: Last Elvis Concert You Listened To Was?
I just listened to one of my recent FTD purchases, "I Found My Thrill." Elvis is in really good voice on this disc! Strictly in terms of the power of his singing, this concert, and the bonus tracks, are almost as good, to me, as the Memphis 1974 live album! The sound quality of the FTD isn't the best, but the singing is mighty fine! He sounds happy, energized, and enthusiastic here!
