Yeah, the memphis 1974 concert has always been one of my favorites.
and one of the best concerts in the seventies imo.

I know that alot of fans don't like the aplause overdub done by rca but I like it because it gives an extra power to the show.
many years ago the show was released on the cd, I think it was Steamroller Blues where the original tapes were used without the overdubs. It was also the first time I think the extra songs were added that rca had left out on the lp release bak in '74
I personaly don't have that great feeling of exitement with the original recording. I'll take the original lp version everytime.

An entertaining concert. Elvis is in good mood and fine voice. It's a shame that Follow That Dream Records f****d it up twice, but thankfully an import-label named VERVE re-re-released it. Here the recording is running in correct speed and the sound was somewhat beefed-up. Even the artwork looks better.

New Haven '76 FTD, A near-complete ''early morning rain'' Elvis leaves out the lines
''This ol' airport's got me down
It's no earthly good to me
'Cause I'm stuck here on the ground
Cold and drunk as I might be
Can't jump a jet plane
Like you can a freight train
So I best be on my way
In the early mornin' rain
So I best be on my way
In the early mornin' rain
So I best be on my way
In the early mornin' rain''

he does sing all the other lines!.

February 23 1972 - Closing Show...Las Vegas

A really good show. The Highlights are "Never Been To Spain", "You Gave Me A Mountain", "Polk Salad Annie", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "An American Trilogy". Mountain and "Until Its Time Fo You To Go" might have seemed extra special to Elvis on this night because Priscilla told Elvis she was leaving him between the Dinner and Closing Show. Not all of "Suspicious Minds" was recorded but they did capture the big Karate Demo Elvis did at the end of the song. The Funniest part of the show comes just before "Bridge". all through the show some woman keeps shouting "Wooooo....Wooooo......Woooooo". Usually in three's like that. Its pretty annoying and Elvis must have felt the same way because after the woman does it again Elvis says...."Will someone give that Son of a Bitch a F**t Plug"....which gets huge laughs and applause. :D Anyways, Elvis really delivers on all of his new material. No negatives at all. great way to end the engagement.

If anyone can figure out the actor/friend Elvis introduces let me know. I could not make out the name even after multiple listens.

I agree it is a terrific show. I remember first hearing it in the early 1980s and being struck by how much better he sounded than at Aloha. His voice displays none of the slurring and weakness evident during that 1973 show and even, at times, during the MSG shows. I felt the same way when I listened to the 1975 concert songs on the Silver Box set. When Elvis was relatively healthy and clean, he could still blow the roof off of the concert arena.

June 14 1972 - Milwaukee Wi.....

A great show as was all the shows on the June tour. The Crowd is into a every minute of it. The Highlights are "Polk Salad Annie", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Suspicious Minds" with Big karate Demo afterwards, "For The Good Times", and "An American Trilogy". He intros "Trilogy" as his next record and while introducing "Love Me Tender" he jokes "one of my first records was called Love Me Tender.....My last one was called "Love Me Any Way"...No negatives for this show other than the fact that "Hound Dog " was not fully recorded.

Cleveland Oh - November 6 1971 - Afternoon Show..

Great show As usual for The 1971 tour. The Highlights are "You've Lost That Lovin Feelin", "Polk Salad Annie", "Johnny B Goode", "How Great Thou Art", "Bridge Over Troubled Water" + reprise. During "Love Me Tender" he does the "Because You Took The Pill" line, and this is one of the first times he did the "Hawaiian Wedding Song" in concert. I guess the only complaint would be that he does not perform "Suspicious Minds" during this show which was rare for this time.

September 9 1970 - Phoenix Arizona

Good High Energy Show. This is the opening show of his first tour since the 50's. He makes no mention of camera's filming him which adds weight to the story that the filmmakers kept the cameras on the crowd. He introduces himself as Glen Campbell and sings one line of "By The Time I Get To Pheonix". He tells the crowd that its the first time he has played there since 1957. The Highlights of the show are "Polk Salad Annie" (with the Campbell, Humperdink, Jones routine), "Johnny B Goode", "The Wonder Of You" (the complete version), In The Ghetto (except for when Elvis jokes "And the runny little boy with the hungry nose"), "Bridge Over Troubled Water" (he gets a huge ovation afterwards), "Suspicious Minds". The negatives are that he starts up "Sweet Caroline" and then after the intro he cuts the song off saying they changed their mind. then during "You've Lost That Lovin Feelin" he starts repeating the first verse instead of singing the second verse and then catches himself saying he screwed it up. The most annoying problem is that some of the songs are clipped by the person recording. "Heartbreak Hotel" is clipped near the end and starts up again when "Blue Suede Shoes" has already begun. and then "Hound Dog" is not recorded at all. and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" is joined in Progress. So u are not listening to the complete show but what are u going to do....the tape length is about 44 min. But when u add on what was not recorded the show was likely almost 50 mins long.
